This #WorldTurtleDay, we shed light on the impacts of Bill 5 on Ontario's snapping turtles and their habitats.
Snapping turtles occupy wide ranges of Ontario's shallow water bodies and terrestrial areas. As a species of special concern, they are threatened by #Bill5, which reduces habitat protections and removes the focus on species recovery.
Help protect snapping turtles by sharing this post, our blog and educating others about the threats this species faces and the problems with Bill 5.

Chevron is seeking a massive tax break in Texas for a new gas-fired power plant would exclusively serve a Microsoft data center.
The plant could qualify for more than $227 million in tax breaks over 10 years, and the power from the plant wouldn't go to homes or local businesses at all.
As Mother Jones reported in collaboration with Wired, the proposed plant would emit more planet-heating pollution each year than the entire country of Jamaica.

AI data centers are sucking up water like billionaires suck up wealth.
But don’t worry guys, they told us to take shorter showers while they evaporate entire lakes to train chatbots.
Funny how the people hoarding the money are now hoarding the resources too.
I am not upset that the Hudson Bay Company has been reduced to a kiosk inside Canadian Tire.
I would prefer it followed the British East Indian Company into complete oblivion...

More Pesticides Please! Trump’s Toxics First Agenda continues with a new executive order mandating the production of glyphosate and providing immunity to Bayer. As a way to placate and protect a German multinational chemical company, this is beyond extreme https://t.co/IVz60qFsMm
@RpsAgainstTrump This week CBC’s David Cochrane said it well:
“America isn’t the way it is because he’s president. He’s president because America is the way it is.”
Sometimes distress isn’t weakness — it’s the sign that the heart hasn’t been anaesthetised yet. Maybe that’s why these monks matter. They remind us that clarity doesn’t have to be violent, and that refusing rage can itself be a form of courage.
The reason why Venezuela is under attack
U.S. Southern Command chief General Laura Richardson just said the truth out loud:
the U.S. focus in Latin America isn’t “democracy” — it’s controlling oil, lithium, gold, and rare earth minerals. Venezuela, with the largest oil reserves and key strategic resources, is the main target
Iraq. Libya. Syria. Gaza. And now Venezuela....
The common denominator OIL.
This industry is a mass murderer:
Planetary destruction;
Murders 1 in 5;
Absorbs endless state welfare;
Campaigns for endless war for market manipulation;
Insists upon energy hegemony;
Pushes known costs onto the public, trillions;
Destroys democracy;
Supports oil monarchies & despots;
Destroys human rights & freedom;
Helped place King Donnie in the White House.
It's reason number 5,001 why this hideously evil industry must go.
WE ARE SO BACK! ⛸
