I’m a website developer and WordPress enthusiast from Uganda. I love sharing knowledge, creating visually appealing websites, and contributing to open source.”
Happy 23 years WordPress! Long live WordPress!
I don't say this out a lot and I probably should a bit more!
There are literally thousands of people like me who love the @WordPress project and its co-founder @photomatt and many others around the project - as it is the last great stand for the open-web!
It is one of the last hedge against the open web being extracted into a vapid wasteland.
Happy Birthday, @WordPress
WordPress just turned 23 and if you’re not part of this community yet, you are missing out on something real.
Not software. Not a platform. People.
WordCamps are where it happens. Where the person who wrote the code that runs your website is sitting two seats away from someone who just published their first post this morning. Where conversations that started over cheap coffee turned into business partnerships, friendships, and for some of us, something that feels a lot like family.
You show up for the freebies and the discounts. You stay because someone grabs your arm and says, “Your plugin changed my business” and means it.
This is what open source looks like when it works. Not obligation. Gratitude. People giving back because something was given to them first.
WordPress didn’t just hand the world a publishing tool. It handed us a reason to find each other.
The next WordCamp is coming. The late nights, the loud rooms, the quiet moments, they’re all waiting.
Don’t miss it. In this post are some people wishing you a Happy Birthday
@SteveUG, @NoelineNandago, @Simonkanyike1, @EduTechCenter, @AhmedChaion, @adityakane, @Braindventure
and the companies that make us come to WordPress:
@automattic, @WooCommerce, @jetpack, @Pressable, @wordpressdotcom , @akismet, @ForthFocusGroup, @miniOrange, @Hostinger, @elemntor, @kinsta@goGreenGeeks, @PayPal, @thewpfolks, @SharebilityUg, @cursortechug, @Infinityi3C@WCMukono, @WordPress, @WordCampAsia etc
Happy Birthday, WordPress. Let’s keep going, together.

WordCamps aren't just conferences, they're open source homecomings where coders, reviewers, first-timers, and veterans come to play, eat, party, and break through the sadness of yesterday
A time to give back. A time for freebies, discounts, and joy.

Visually impaired users don't scroll your webpage they jump between headings and scan a links list.
If your headings skip levels or your links all say "Read more", you've basically handed them a broken map.
Accessibility isn't extra. It's just good web craft. #WCKLA2026
