I always thought studying literature was something worth doing for its own sake and despite the economic downsides; I did not realize I would be on the front lines of fighting against the state and capital's active attempts to turn everyone into an illiterate and incurious idiot.
@codebrewed@ProfMcInnis I was in line in the Atlanta airport three days ago and there’s a video playing on screens while you wait in line that instructs you to take out your laptop. When I got to the screening, don’t take your laptop out (the tsa guy was actually pretty friendly about it tho)

@daphne_coucou@royfrompluto Came to say the same thing. It’s only a 20-30 minute walk from my house to the nearest MARTA station, but half of it is crossing the highway, there’s no crosswalks that anybody pays attention to, and the whole route is cement and loud as hell
