Mason Molina makes his Triple-A debut today for Memphis, and this is one of the more interesting pitching development stories in the #STLCards system.
Acquired from Texas at the 2025 trade deadline for Phil Maton, Molina has steadily moved up the ladder and earned the bump after a strong run at Double-A Springfield.
His Springfield line:
14 starts
2.87 ERA
69.0 IP
82 K
26 BB
1.10 WHIP
He was also named the Cardinals’ June Pitcher of the Month after posting a 2.25 ERA over four starts, capped by 6.2 scoreless innings in his final Double-A outing.
The fastball is not overpowering, mostly 91-93 and touching 95, but the deception, extension and five-pitch mix make it play up. Add in a swing-and-miss changeup and multiple breaking-ball looks, and Molina has become more than just upper-level depth.
Now he is one step from St. Louis.
Big start today.
Lefty who throws strikes w/ 5 pitches and keeps runs off the board. Outstanding spin on 3 breaking shapes bouys the profile. Has a 180 inning build. Smells like a solid #3. 2% own on Fantrax.
For the Record: Mason Molina was the Cardinal Chronicle Pitcher of the Week, (6/29);
Cardinal Chronicle Pitcher of the Day, (6/28); (6/22); (6/10); (6/4); (5/27) & (5/21)
Mason Molina in AA:
14 starts
2.87 ERA
1.10 WHIP
10.7 K/9
Congrats to Mason on being promoted to AAA! The Rangers traded the 22 year old last year for 23 innings of Phil Maton. It was a great find by Mo and Chaim at the deadline 👌👌
The Cardinal Nation's no. 18-ranked #stlcards prospect, LHS Mason Molina, is scheduled to make his Triple-A debut for Memphis vs. Charlotte at AutoZone Park this Saturday evening, July 4.
#STLCards The Cardinals are promoting the left-hander to Triple-A Memphis after a strong run at Springfield, where he posted a 2.87 ERA with 82 strikeouts over 69 innings.
Molina has earned the next test, and now he is one step closer to St. Louis.

Mason Molina continued his impressive season, lowering his ERA below 3.00 with another scoreless gem for @Sgf_Cardinals 📉

@GustaStl60863@RayMileur1 Hahaha, would it help if I told ya he is 50% Spaniard? I know ... still a Güero 😂 He does embrace his Latin roots, my man ~ after all, he grew up in SoCal 🤙
2-2 today. Quinn Mathews threw 5 no-hit innings before giving up a bomb in the 6th. Mason Molina pitches extremely well in a Springfield shutout. Jose Suarez picks up three hits, and Alex Birge homers.
Time to promote Mason Molina. Quinn Mathews gave up 1 hit tonight but it was a homer after a walk. I mentioned it earlier. Both may be in the rotation next year if not sooner.
