THIS IS PEAK WHATABOUTERY 🔥
REPORTER: Why should Norway trust India when fundamental rights are being violated?
MEA: We have Gandhi, ancient civilisation, and a Constitution that guarantees fundamental rights.
REPORTER 🎯: Exactly. I know India has fundamental rights. That is why I asked about violations.
MEA: If rights are violated, people can go to court. 😐
REPORTER: That’s the point. Why are people forced to go to court for basic rights?
MEA: It’s my press conference. I will decide.
REPORTER: When will PM take free questions from the press?
MEA: Next question.

Her name was Payal Tadvi.
She was 26 years old. A second year MD student in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at BYL Nair Hospital in Mumbai. She was from the Tadvi Bhil tribal community in Dhule district Maharashtra. She was the first person from her family to become a doctor.
Three senior resident doctors in her department targeted her from the day she joined.
They used casteist slurs regularly. They blocked her from entering the operation theatre. They stopped her from performing surgeries she was entitled to complete as part of her training. They gave her menial tasks instead.
Her mother complained to the head of the department repeatedly. Nothing happened.
In the four days before she died she was scolded at work every single day.
On May 22 2019 she assisted in two surgeries and was scolded again. She left the ward in tears.
She called her mother. She spoke to her husband.
Then she was gone.
She left a suicide note on her phone naming all three doctors.
When they entered her room after her death they deleted it. Police recovered it from forensic data weeks later. Forensic analysis confirmed it was written in her handwriting.
All three were arrested. The trial is still running. Six years later.

This is deeply troubling.
If legal heirs can be dragged through decades-long medical negligence litigation for acts allegedly committed by a deceased doctor, then medicine itself enters a dangerous zone. ⚠️
A doctor treats a patient in 1990.
The doctor dies.
The complainant dies.
Yet, 36 years later, children and families who never touched the scalpel may still be forced to fight in court.
Where does this end?
Medical negligence must absolutely be punished where proven. But converting professional liability into something resembling hereditary civil punishment sets a very dangerous precedent. 🧨
Doctors already work under immense pressure, rising violence, social media trials, unrealistic expectations, and crippling legal exposure.
Now imagine telling a young surgeon:
“Even after your death, your family may continue defending your decisions for decades.”
Who exactly will willingly enter high-risk specialities then? 🤔
This is not merely a legal issue anymore.
It is a public health issue.
A frightened medical fraternity eventually produces defensive medicine:
more tests,
more referrals,
higher costs,
less risk-taking,
and fewer doctors willing to handle complicated cases.
Society may celebrate such rulings emotionally today.
Tomorrow, it may discover that no one wants to perform the surgery. 🏥
Late Shri Manohar Parrikar Ji once narrated his ordeal.
"I'm from Parra, a village in Goa, so we're called 'Parrikars.' My village is famous for its watermelons. When I was a child, the farmers there held a 'Watermelon Eating Contest' in May, after the harvest. All the children were invited and asked to eat as many watermelons as they wanted.
Many years later, I went to IIT Mumbai to study engineering. Then I returned to my village after 6.5 years. I went to the market to look for watermelons. But they were gone. The ones I found were very small.
I went to meet the farmer who used to hold the 'Watermelon Eating Contest.' Now his son had taken his place. He still held the contest, but there was a difference. When the old farmer offered us watermelons to eat, he would ask us to spit the seeds into a bowl. We were forbidden to chew the seeds. He was collecting seeds for the next crop.
We were, in effect, unpaid child laborers.
He would keep his best watermelons for the competition, using them as the best. He obtained good seeds, which produced even bigger watermelons the next year. When his son arrived, he thought the larger ones would fetch a higher price in the market, so he started selling the larger ones and keeping the smaller ones for competition. The next year, the watermelons grew smaller, and the next even smaller. A watermelon generation lasts one year.
In seven years, Parra's best watermelons were wiped out. In humans, a generation changes every 25 years. In 200 years, we will realize the mistakes we were making in educating our children.
Selecting good seeds, that is, talent, is a huge task in itself. Due to irrelevant ideas and useless things, our good watermelons will go to market, leaving us with useless, inferior seeds.
We must think about this in today's context.
