Refused permission to move my elderly father’s mobile to our family account by @EE because we don’t have sufficient credit history. Were with BT for c20 yrs and never not paid on time. Change only happened because of *their* merger. Perhaps we should go elsewhere.
@dyddgu I keep meaning to ask you about it. I’m mostly just not doing anything anywhere out of irritable apathy atm. But maybe I should make the effort.
I see @GWRHelp assumes the Didcot-Oxford line closed until the middle of June, because of damaged Nuneham viaduct over the Thames. Hugely disruptive for passengers on @CrossCountryUK and puts rail freight in an intolerable situation: more lorries on A34.
The railway from Oxford to Didcot is provisionally expected to reopen on 9 June, according to internal briefings from Network Rail – a ten-week closure in all. A temporary repair should allow trains to proceed at near standard speed after an initial period of bedding in.
@dyddgu It is a fine notebook and I am jealous. Largely because my own stash consists entirely of the kids’ old exercise books which were sent home from school every year with loads of useable pages left.
Network Rail confirms that the Oxford–Didcot railway will remain closed until “late April” following the failure of Nuneham Viaduct after wet ground conditions. Replacement buses will run between Oxford and Didcot, adding 40 minutes to journey times. https://t.co/qwNbZFkQxl
We’re hoping someone can help ID the origins of these #microplastics and end the torture. We’ve seen these in WWTP and marine samples. FTIR = acrylic. This is the first one found attached to PP base (white). Any ideas? It’s so common and widespread.
Thanks to a tip from @pottyplotters on using white vinegar to remove rust, my twine-snipping scissors are back in action despite having spent the best part of a year stranded down the back of a large waterbutt.
@dentjw The fan element in our oven broke several weeks ago and “supply issues” are delaying the arrival of the replacement so we are very much back to basics in this respect atm. I miss it more than I thought I could ever miss an appliance.
