@lawrennd Another nice read!
I have been learning that with new approaches, creating a space that facilitates bi-directional or even cross-directional learning between stakeholders can go a long away in increasing uptake and impact. Kinda calls for innovative agile approaches.

@lawrennd Very enlightening @lawrennd. This really sticks with me.
"People convene around purpose."👌
"But a purpose is often only loosely defined, so it’s important to move quickly from the purpose to define projects with actionable outcomes that individual people can agree on."

When I was at university in the late ’90s, we never had opportunities like these. As part of my Communications class, we had a course unit in computer studies, but I don’t recall ever touching a computer, even as part of that course.
The first time I attempted to use one was in my second year on my first day at 91.3 Capital FM as a part-time weekend news anchor. Story scripts were handwritten and left in a tray the evening before. I would show up on Saturday morning, sift through the tray, determine my running order, and then prepare my leads. It was purely a matter of gut feeling and also depended on how well the stories were written. That was when I learned to identify what made for a good news story.
I was incredibly nervous on the first day. The keyboard was so faded I could barely make out the characters on the QWERTY layout. With the clock ticking, I quickly resorted to scribbling down my leads. After one painful weekend, I decided to stick letters and numbers onto the keyboard to help identify the characters. Soon, I learned to type without looking – under immense pressure.
As a Communication Skills, Literature, and English Language student, I went on to work in the media, learning everything I know on the job, often under pressure. My post-university days at Monitor FM (now 933 KFM) taught me how to produce audio documentaries, manage the news desk and work under immense pressure with news bulletins at the top of every one alongside three 1hr long newscasts.
What @IMChallengeug is doing is nothing short of commendable. Supporting their work in any way I can is the least I can do, considering the opportunities many of us never had. Good luck to the contestants; I look forward to seeing some amazing presentations. May the best team win!
