ONCE WE HAVE ARTIFICIAL GENERAL SUPER INTELLIGENCE THE COST TO SHIP WORTHLESS NEW SOFTWARE FEATURES THAT IRRITATE YOUR USER BASE WILL DROP TO NEAR ZERO.
@Rory_Johnston@DonMiami3 I have no problem you bringing kids to a bar but could you please teach them that we live in a society and not to play tag between our tables. My mother would have ripped my ear off for the behavior I see most parents tolerating in public restaurants.
@chamath There is more to software development than coding for sure, but I think we are better off rethinking the SDLC from the ground up. So much of the current superstructure exists because writing code was slow and expensive.
@ipatrol6010@ATabarrok@asymmetricinfo We don’t have a free market , we have a market for corporations who need to get their tax deductions for providing health care to employees. The quality of health care for consumers is mostly inconsequential.
@ATabarrok@asymmetricinfo In this scenario their incentives align to keeping costs controlled and delivering on their promise to the employer not the subscriber
@ATabarrok@asymmetricinfo This might be true in theory, but in practice, health insurance companies make most of their money off private plans in which the corporation puts up the initial capital to insure the employees and the payor merely administrates the plan for essentially a fee.
@JeffBooth What’s honest about exactly? It can be manipulated just like fiat, the difference is you don’t know who is doing the manipulating. I think the best you can say is that the opportunity for exploitation is not monopolized. But “honest” is a stretch.
@DominguezH31015 She doesn’t actually say anything here yall, she just says a lot of disconnected assertions and then “real time” bla bla “Trump” “you didn’t see this coming”, why is everyone so impressed with this clip?
@TheModerateCase What is the principle at stake for you here? The halftime show is entertainment / art, I think it’s reasonable to not like the choice of artist but unreasonable to expect the choice of artist to pass some sort of national cultural test.
Goosebumps! People often ask, is Shakespeare still relevant? Here is a great example, from the Steven Colbert Show, in which Sir Ian McKellen delivers an extraordinary speech. Shakespeare’s words are timeless, urgent and important.
