@SecretBusMgr @RogersHistory I agree, a weak teacher from an independent school will struggle in a state school. A good teacher though, will be just fine. Same for those switching from state. There is far more that unites us in education than divides us. Generalisations are rarely helpful.

To label those teaching in an independent school as generically inferior to their colleagues in state schools is unnecessarily divisive, especially for a person of your experience. Collaboration and respect is the future, surely?

@timdavies_uk I couldn't agree more. It is weakness and poor leadership and the officers on the ground see this. There are some fantastic leaders in the police with the ideas to make real improvements, unfortunately few of them get beyond the rank of Inspector.

@timdavies_uk The police is riddled with leaders pushing initiatives like this for promotion. You're right, this is easy. To effectively lead on something like knife crime requires years of experience on the front line. Sadly there are very few of these officers at senior leadership level.
