As an old-school professor here in PA,

who is not a Republican,

Erik is an example of why so many people have lost trust and respect for my profession.

There is way too much indoctrination happening and not enough “think openly, think critically, think for yourself” including encouraging free exchanges of different ideologies using civility and intellect —the way it used to be on university campuses.

There is a serious rot in our educational system.

Example:

Over the past week, I gave my students an anonymous survey on the current events happening.

(This particular course is based on analyzing human behavior in society, so it aligns with our usual class material.)

Also, it’s important to know these are first-year students, so they were still in high school a few months ago—both public and private.

In totality, the students polled in three main categories:

1. about 55% condemned the violence citing words like angry, shocked, confused, sad

2. about 15% didn’t agree with Charlie at all but didn’t think he deserved to die for speaking his mind

3. about 30% were happy, laughed, thought he deserved it, or simply didn’t care

Not to sound too negative, but I’ve been in the educational trenches for 20+ years, and it’s getting worse by the day.

Probably best to homeschool your children and then encourage trade school.
