Today is 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗪𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻’𝘀 𝗗𝗮𝘆 – and we’re recognising the women across policing who keep us safe, bring criminals to justice, and lead from the front.

Whether you’re a response officer, detective, dog handler, firearms officer, mounted officer, call handler, dispatcher, counter-terror specialist, forensic expert, intelligence analyst, drone operator, cybercrime investigator, or one of the many vital people working behind the scenes – policing wouldn’t function without you. This list isn’t exhaustive, because neither are the skills, strength, and resilience you bring to the job.

Some of the 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀𝘁 police officers we’ve ever met have been women. They’ve tackled violent criminals, led complex investigations, saved lives, supported victims, made split-second decisions, and helped their teams succeed.

This isn’t about ticking a box or making things "equal for the sake of it" – it’s about recognising 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘀, 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿, and ensuring everyone has the platform to be their best. That’s what makes policing stronger.

And yes, before anyone asks – 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗲𝗻’𝘀 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝟭𝟵𝘁𝗵 𝗡𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿. It exists. This isn’t a competition. If you can’t lift up your mothers, sisters, daughters, wives, girlfriends and colleagues for one day without feeling the need to tear it down, maybe the issue isn’t the day. 👀

Nancy Davis is a Louisiana woman whose fetus was missing the top of its skull, a condition called acrania.

She was 10 weeks pregnant when an ultrasound showed this rare but fatal condition.

Acrania kills babies within minutes or days of birth.

Louisiana’s abortion ban contains a general exception for fetuses that cannot survive outside their mothers’ wombs, however, if your condition is not on the list, you’re shit out of luck.

She was sent home and told she had to carry to term.

Nancy subsequently had to travel from Louisiana to New York to receive the medical care she needed.

This is not pro-life this is inhumane. Republicans don’t govern they torture.

We're deeply concerned regarding the continued use of police dogs in public order incidents without the appropriate personal protective equipment. Police dogs are highly trained to deal with these incidents, but it's irresponsible to be utilising them on the frontline, without stab vests or canine specific first aid kits in police vehicles. We have a duty to ensure the safety and wellbeing of these heroic dogs, and at present they are being let down. We're therefore urging the new Home Secretary @YvetteCooperMP & Policing and Crime Minister @DianaJohnsonMP to commit to reviewing personal protective equipment for police dogs across the United Kingdom. 🐶🇬🇧💙
