America is a country I became a citizen for many reasons. One of the main being that it is built on innovation. To innovate, research funding must be stable in the US or we will see an exodus to other countries where it is stable.

@atrupar FYI, 1870 to 1913 was a time when we saw an explosion of income inequality in this country as well and erosion of the middle class. Reforms were only passed in response rising violence in the 1920s, at which point elites started to redistribute wealth up until the 1970s.
