I’ve just recorded my last contribution for the BBC after 39 years. It’ll be on the next edition of From Our Own Correspondent on @BBCRadio4 and @bbcworldservice
Now onward to new adventures… As my hero Marcelo Bielsa might say, ‘Vamos Carajo!’
It wish to commend all those involved in giving life to the @DrSalimArchive, chronicling the extraordinary work and achievements of Dr Salim Ahmed Salim.
In a lifetime of public service, Dr Salim has been recognised as a leading figure in the global struggle for independence, freedom, peace and cooperation. He has secured a distinctive and distinguished position in the history of Tanzania, the African continent and the United Nations.
He will forever occupy a cherished place in the hearts of the people of South Africa for his tireless efforts to end apartheid and his commitment to the achievement of a non-racial democracy in South Africa.
This digital archive is more than a remarkable historical record. It is an affirmation of the values by which Dr Salim has lived, the mission for which he has strived and the legacy that he passes on to future generations.
Through the power of technology, this digital archive is accessible around the world. It is my hope that this archive will be used by people of all nations as a site of learning and a source of inspiration.

This is really humbling. Thank you @UdsmOfficial for celebrating this step with me.
Siku zilizofuata uliwekwa ulinzi kufuatilia wageni wangu.
She then handed over to the British High Commissioner David Concar who scared us all by beginningnhis speech in Kiswahili...
...before continuing in English 🙂
A former journalist himself, he spoke to the challenges that face the profession, and about the BBC

Sidenote:
Speaking of local talent, @Salym is here and I am always so amazed when TV people just pop up in real life 😃
I mean. I know he doesn't live inside the screen because I have seen him before being normal.
Still odd tho. He's wearing African formal!
😅

Good morning!
How do I know it is Monday? Easy.
The white cat who sheds a ton of fur is lying on top of the clean dark clothes on the ironing board.
And for some reason, I used the former garlic jar to put sugar in now we have garlicky sugar to deal with.
Monday.
G'day 🙂
Alright my tweeps: anything you want me to write about starting this week for next going forward?
Ama work on your suggestions either in @The_EastAfrican (short and polite) or my blog The Mikocheni Report (more candid, might take a while)
Karibuni!

Huh.
Moleskine has been around iver 200 years, made by a "small bookbinder" in France and declined in 1980 (why were the 80's so blergh?) before being bought by an Italian firm
They include an insert in their products. Worth considering, "small bookbinder" @titotrythis? Hi 🙂
