TERRORISTS CALLING THE SHOTS IN MANIPUR VIOLENCE

In early September, Central intelligence agencies had warned about the possibility of terrorist outfits mingling among the crowd during protests, with the objective of precipitating violence. The intelligence reports were affirmed recently when it was discovered that Meitei terrorist outfits were hiding among the Meitei mob that had set out to attack the Zo villages in the Pallel area. These terrorists also exchanged gunfire with the Central forces, and videos of them being evacuated later by Meitei policemen have surfaced online for all the public to see.

Security officials have repeatedly confirmed that the current ethnic flare up is seeing the resurgence of the banned Meitei terrorist outfits like the UNLF, PLA, KYKL, and PREPAK, who are infiltrating into Manipur in large numbers from their camps in Myanmar. Officials have also reported that most of the sophisticated weapons that were handed over to Meitei civil militias from police stations and armouries have fallen into the hands of these terrorist outfits. Recently, the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), one of the prominent Meitei terrorist outfits, held their 45th Rising Day celebrations and blasted the Indian government for fomenting the ongoing troubles in Manipur.
Even in the current violence that has engulfed Imphal, these terrorists are seen moving around the city freely and openly, and instigating riots and violence against the security forces. Security officials have reported seeing armed men dressed in black uniforms giving directions to the Meitei rioters who proceeded to attack the security forces.

Two Young Kuki Boy asked. Mother, are you all Meitei? I answered, Yes Child. That moment we believed that we will die.
But they told us we are in the wrong direction. They lead us in the right way. Those two young men, although they were tribal Kuki. Still they show us the safe way, towards Sekmai Via the River bank. After reaching a point, they told us not to worry from there. It was the Kanglatombi Bridge, they return from that point and we cross this side.
They wished us saying, “MOTHER MAY YOU REACH SAFE”. They were such beneficent.
Two Meitei mother shared their stories with happy tears in their eyes.

Over two months later, Kim is still coming to terms with her brother’s death. Letminthang had joined the tax department only last May. He had lived in Maharashtra until 2021, graduating with a master’s degree in mathematics. Kim also has a 16-year-old sister; the siblings lost their mother last year to cancer while their father died in 2016.

“After the demise of our mother, we were parents to each other. He was younger than me but used to take care of us,” Kim told Newslaundry. “We were so close that we would share all our secrets with each other. Now he has gone from this world leaving just me and my younger sister."
