Dear ones, praise God from whom all blessings flow.
Last year , I had the opportunity to visit Nakivale Refugee Settlement Isingiro, Ankole Diocese as we crowned our locally led emergency response that was launched at the beginning of 2025 to respond to the growing influx of refugees and asylum seekers following fighting in Eastern DRC.
Through their respective Dioceses, our Christians mobilized resources worth UGX 100M both in kind and in cash to provide much-needed support to those in dire need at the time.
We also received support from our partner, Anglican Relief and Development Fund (ARDF).
With this support we managed to reach 6,766 refugees with food and non food items.
I am deeply grateful to the Directorate of Household and Community Transformation (HCT) for lobbying for this support and for coordinating my visit to the Settlement.
As you watch this video, I invite you to spare a moment to pray for those seeking refuge and to advocate for peace, that our country may continue to remain peaceful.
Praise God from whom all blessings flow!
Today, I launched the @ChurchofUganda_’s Children’s Focus Month 2025 in Nakivale Refugee Settlement in Isingiro District, Ankole Diocese.
This year’s celebration is being held under the theme "Doing Good for Children,” reminding us that every child is a divine gift from God and a sacred trust placed in our hands. As a Church, November is our dedicated month to reflect on, celebrate, and practically support the wellbeing of all children across our 39 Dioceses.
Uganda remains the largest refugee hosting nation in Africa and the third largest in the world, welcoming over 1.8 million refugees.
In Nakivale alone, there are more than 186,000 refugees, many of them children facing daily hardships caused by displacement, hunger, trauma, and limited access to basic services.
Today, I spent time praying with them, encouraging them, and reminding them that they are not forgotten. They are loved by God, valued by the Church, and deserving of dignity, hope, and every best opportunity.
I commended our @HCT_Direcorate and partners under @ACTAlliance for the tremendous work already happening in Nakivale.
Since opening our office here in July 2024, the Church has reached over 3,000 refugees with food and non-food items, psychosocial support, trauma counselling, GBV prevention programs, peacebuilding dialogues, and spiritual care.
I also called upon Government, development partners, civil society, Christians in our dioceses, schools, and institutions, and all people of goodwill to continue supporting vulnerable children.
Donations of food, sanitary items, school materials, and basic household necessities can restore hope and transform a child’s future.
As we begin Children’s Focus Month 2025, let us embrace the biblical call in Galatians 6:9: "Do not grow weary in doing good.” Children are at the heart of God’s Kingdom, and today more than ever, they need our compassion, protection, and practical support.
May the Lord empower us to become His hands and feet bringing hope, justice, and love to all His children.
To God be the glory.
Across UG,many school-aged girls face early pregnancy, and this often leads to being expelled from school. Questions about girls’ rights to health, education, and dignity, especially many from marginalised backgrounds, we must support the vulnerable and give hope above all.
"The dedication of local communities in Palabek Ogili and Palabek Nyimur to conserving their environment is truly inspiring. Their efforts in tree planting and sustainable farming practices are making a tangible difference in combating climate change," Hette Domburg, @KerkinActie
"Your involvement has strengthened Church of Uganda’s relevance in communities. Our partnership is of great value, and your commitment to support Church of Uganda in both good and challenging times demonstrates the love of Christ that dwells in your hearts," @Archbp_COU said.
@Archbp_COU has hailed @KerkinActie for its role in transforming communities in Uganda and called for continued collaboration and support to expand the impact of their joint efforts. He met with Hilda Timmerman and Hette Domburg, Program Officers for Africa in Namirembe today.

Attending a meeting by SAVE THE CHILDREN on dissemination of a study and cost benefit analysis of Ready to Learn Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) approach. It is clear that the learning of children should start early so that they can be able to do better.
