Hiring managers need to review more applications than ever and candidates need to submit crazy numbers of applications to land a job. Trust Networks, have never been more important for both sides to find the signal in the noise.
Yesterday the Wall Street Journal ran a crazy story covering Serena Dao's job search post graduation from Tepper School of Business.
She applied to 260 jobs...
In the end, all of the cold applications were a complete waste of time. It was a Trust Network that eventually helped her land a job at The Engine. A manager from a prior fellowship put in a good word and that helped her application rise above the noise.
@kiran Yes absolutely - there are a number of companies already offering this service. If you are OpenAI trying to recruit engineers from meta it isnβt going to work. But for roles that have zillions of applicants it is fine for a prescreen filter.
Tech recruiters have officially started losing jobs to AI. But not everyone - it depends on a couple of factors...
Tech recruiters focus on 4 key areas: candidate identification, candidate outreach, candidate screening, and process management. AI can do all of it...but...
Trust networks are outside the data set that can be accessed by AI. These are gold and are behind some of the most successful tech recruiters.
I think most tech recruiters are going to ultimately lose their jobs to AI, but some will survive. Position yourself accordingly.
But, if your target candidate pool is small, you can't afford to spam anyone. Only highly tailored approaches will work that AI isn't good enough for...yet...
Then it comes to trust networks. Do you have a network of people you trust who also trust you?
@kiran@darrennix Has to be an occupancy play - either to sell the building or to make the other spaces seem more in demand to other prospective tenants
@AmericanAir Iβm standing at a gate for an earlier flight that has space and your gate agent says she canβt let me on- it can only be done thru the app - the app wonβt let me do it it says to call. I called and they say they canβt do it. This is crazy - please help
@klaviyo is a unicorn in many ways beyond the billion $ valuation - @maxcr and I sat down with @abialecki where he shared all the details that got them to where they are today. From finding GTM arbs, to operational discipline and more. https://t.co/kPgaw2c9Rh
@mikesalguero@Chase Had to spend 30 minutes on hold today for our business account just to get access. They had no record of me creating a login despite me having done so weeks agoβ¦
@maxcr and I sat down with @larrykim who told us his incredible story. From landing a $50k business contract when he was in high school (which he used to pay for college) to getting rejected by 200 VCs and ultimately selling for $130M https://t.co/oaLMO5IE3M
