How can the @GOVUK take away the #winterfuelpayment from vulnerable pensioners and leave the super rich completely untouched?
The money is there!
It's time for a #WealthTax on the super rich and a tax on excess profits! @UniteEconomy
With energy costs going up again, it's no time to rob Peter to pay Paul. There is a massive untapped wealth in Britain, the 50 richest families in Britain own a combined £500b in wealth, same as half the UK population. A 1% wealth tax on the richest 1% would raise £25billion.
As the UK faces a cold snap with temperatures dropping lower than -5C, the lives of many pensioners will be at risk - not helped by the appalling removal of the winter fuel allowance by the Labour government. A shameful policy of cruelty & punishment on pensioners this winter.
🚨Unite launches judicial review process over Winter Fuel Payment cut.
People do not understand, I do not understand how a Labour government has taken away the fuel allowance of millions of pensioners just as winter approaches.
Given the failure to rectify this in the budget, @unitetheunion has now commenced judicial review proceedings challenging the legality of the policy.
It is not too late for @UKLabour to register the hurt that this cruel policy has caused, step back from picking the pockets of pensioners and do the right thing.

@TfL what is happening with the W4 bus route? Where is the damaged carriageway, bearing in mind there are no roads closed on the route & when is the service going to be restored? Passengers require this information
BREAKING - Labour’s Chancellor Rachel Reeves forced to repay part of the £1,225 for help with her own tax returns which she claimed on Parliamentary expenses. https://t.co/UaEJlz6W2c
BREAKING - Rachel Reeves’ Treasury Team has blocked the Financial Times FOI request to see their workings on the alleged ‘£22bn black hole in the nation’s finances’ which Labour keeps alleging. If it ever existed, why did they do this? #100days of #Starmer
The FULL Winter Fuel Payment interview with Lisa Nandy. Sorry if my frustration about the risk to the 780,000 poorest pensioners missing spilled over with slightly bad language.

We make no apology for holding Labour’s feet to the fire. @UKLabour need to make the right choices! Taking money off pensioners on as little as £220 a week, while the 50 richest families in Britain own a combined £500 billion go untouched, isn't one of them. #LabourConference24
'I'm either going to have to eat or heat, or go into debt.'
Chrissy is a GMB viewer and wrote in after seeing that she will lose her winter fuel allowance this year.
She was a nurse for over 25 years for the NHS and says she feels heavily let down by the government’s decision.
📢 UNITE WINS WINTER FUEL PAYMENT VOTE AT LABOUR CONFERENCE
People do not understand, I do not understand, how our new @UKLabour government can cut the winter fuel allowance for pensioners and leave the super-rich untouched.
My full speech ⤵️
I spoke to @BBCNews about why our government should listen to Labour Conference, trade unions and millions of pensioners and the wider public and accept it’s got this one wrong and now ditch the Winter Fuel Payment cut.
Thank you to all those delegates at Labour Party conference who voted for Rachel Reeves to reverse her decision to cut winter fuel allowance & special thanks to @UniteSharon for her leadership on this. https://t.co/Se1eyKalg2
I am bitterly disappointed that Rachel Reeves is refusing to listen to the profound worries people have about the Winter Fuel Allowance & is just ploughing on despite all the evidence of the hardship & suffering this would cause. A dreadful mistake. Saddening to say the least.
The government could choose to reverse the cut to Winter Fuel Payments, scrap the two-child benefit cap and still have £6 billion left to improve people’s lives.
Austerity is — and always has been — a political choice, not an economic necessity.
”Prime Minister…you earn £167,000 a year. If you need help buying your wardrobe then why shouldn’t pensioners on £13,000 a year get help with their heating?” Exocet missile of a question from @PGourtsoyannis at @STVNews 💥💥💥
When @HSBC_UK and @GoldmanSachs line up to tell the Chancellor there's no financial reason to cut the Winter Fuel Payment, she should listen.
There is no argument left for @RachelReevesMP taking this drastic gamble with older people's health.

There is no reason at all now to persist with the winter fuel allowance cut.
