Everyone knows John Adams and Thomas Jefferson died on July 4, 1826. What they may not is that the next president to die also died on Independence Day: James Monroe, in 1831. Which means the first three presidents to die after George Washington all died on the Fourth of July.

New York City will deadass look you in the face and say you need to show ID to access a public street to watch fireworks but ID to vote is beyond the pale.
New York area sports fans ranked from least annoying to most annoying:
8. Islanders
Cool guys! Will give you a ride in their dad’s Porsche and not even make a big deal out of it.
7. Knicks
Could all change with a title victory but they’ve been so bad for so long and took it all in stride.
6. Mets
Lovable losers. Heartily boo and heckle their own team.
5. Rangers
Yeah yeah “Original Six” who cares. You haven’t won a Cup since 94. Get over yourselves.
4. Giants
We’re starting to get into People You Actively Try to Avoid territory. Finance bros. Decent coke but take a day off dude.
3. Jets
There’s different TYPES of metro area annoying people: elite trash and poor trash. These are the low rent mouth breathing Jersey trash. They are incapable of talking without yelling.
2. Nets
Hoopster trust fund failson Communists. Absolutely worthless people who could vanish off the face of the planet and no one would miss them.
1. Yankees
Somehow combines the worst of the high rent and low rent trash. Hedge fund dad, Mamdani super fan, for Obama but still uses the n word. They should all be jailed.
After threatening the mother of his baby and firing a gun in a park, a man led police on a 30 minute chase that included helicopters and SWAT. He was shot while dangling a baby in an alley. Qualified immunity: no money to the wild man.
Imposing this charge for NFL games would land pretty much 99% on voting US Citizens.
Imposing it for the World Cup means they are mostly picking the pockets of foreign tourists.
That's the basic taxation model for the State of Hawaii.
I’m completely confused about the Met Life stadium transit crisis for the World Cup. This place hosts 17 NFL games a year and massive concerts, how many people are they expecting for Ghana vs Bosnia-Herztagovina match, or whatever?
There was a time in our public discourse when the phrase "I learned today..." was how a person explained why they were not qualified to comment on a topic, since they had just learned the very first thing about it.
This is maybe the most weaselly rationalization I've ever heard from a skin-suited institution, pravda was more forthright than this
Just say rocket man bad

Topics include e-bikes, World Cup-related shutdowns in NYC, AI foibles, ukueles (with FLCL references), NBA rookies, glass storage media, and The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya at 20.
This is pretty wild.
Every one of these accounts has been tied to paid influence operations - and they all tweeted disinformation at the same time about the President being at Walter Reed.
That’s some suspicious stuff.
For those who don’t get the reference, this is the chief of the Ugandan military announcing a statue of Benjamin Netanyahu’s older brother Yoni, who fell in action 50 years ago this July, after Arab and German Marxist terrorists hijacked a Tel Aviv-bound plane and took the hostages at Entebbe Airport with the full collaboration of Idi Amin’s military. One hundred Israeli commandos traveled across Africa to rescue the hostages. They saved 102; four were killed, along with Yoni Netanyahu. The day Israel killed Khamenei would have been Yoni's 80 birthday.
Chuck Norris didn't join the Marine Corps...the Marine Corps applied to him.
Heaven’s streets have always been guarded by Marines. Today, Chuck Norris reported for duty.
We mourn the passing of Chuck Norris, a @usairforce veteran, who also became an honorary Marine in 2007 when awarded the title by then Commandant of the Marine Corps, Gen. James T. Conway.
Chuck Norris is one of just over 100 individuals to be awarded the title of Honorary Marine in the entire 250-year history of the Corps.
Some missions may require a battalion, but this one just requires an Honorary Marine.
