Livros novos! Primeiro volume: A Tradição Analítica. Segundo: A Tradição Continental.

My mother was a philosophy professor in Oxford ... and at age 8 I was fond of declaring "If there's one thing I'll never be when I'm grown up it's a philosopher!"
Well, decades later, my science led me to figure out some rather interesting things in philosophy ... and now there's a book of my philosophical essays just published.

To learn about Lee Kuan Yew, read this book.

I studied his life after listening to Charlie Munger's advice, which was right. There's no precedent in history, in any civilization, for what LKY did in Singapore.

"The Modern Mercenary" by Sean McFate is a good, short book on the rise of the importance of the private military companies in our times - and on what it means for the states and their security. But the book could have been much better if not for the author's constant repetitions.

@TyKeynes Yes and too true. Here is my favorite passage from Mises, in which he explains that in reality their "Quantity Theory" of money doesn't work and we should still believe in it. These paragraphs are even worse in context:

[Mr. Keynes @TyKeynes]

I just finished Hudson's Killing the Host, after reading Mises' Human Action, Hayek's The Road to Serfdom, and Rothbard's Man, Economy, and State last year.

Hudson's book is better than all three combined. Austrian economics is a thousand-page handjob for landlords.

I recommend my students read Mark Fisher's late lectures on Lukács' History and Class Consciousness, especially those interested in identity politics and its relationship to Marxism. Judging by the topics, the papers being written for my course on the later Lukács promise to be extremely interesting.
