We had the pleasure of having @AbiyAmbaye at our campus @ayder_hospital. Prof Abiy gave a seminar to our clinicians. Great inspiration for our young physicians.

This young lady possessed a vision, a dream, and an unwavering passion to lead a life akin to mine and others. She gave her life to the liberty of our society, demonstrating a remarkable selflessness that defies description. The crucial question that arises is whether we are resolute in preserving her legacy and the sacrifices of countless others, not merely for a fleeting three days, but for all time, in the pursuit of a fair, inclusive, and democratic society in #Tigray.
A heartfelt tribute to all our martyrs.
#Tigray: #Orthodox Patriarch expresses “deep sorrow” for Tigray’s fallen; says “not a single house” in the region where tears aren’t being shed
His Holiness Abune Mathias, Patriarch of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church (#EOTC) issued a message of “deep sorrow for those who are being commemorated in the Tigray region today” late this afternoon.
The Patriarch’s statement comes in the backdrop of the first day of three days commemorative events taking place across the Tigray region to honor the martyrs who died fighting in the two year brutal war that has claimed hundreds of thousands of lives.
“We have been making many pleas to prevent this from happening,” Abune Mathias said, but expressed his sadness that the country has reached an age where the values of being an elder and priesthood “are not respected and we are saddened”by that.
“There is not a single house” in the Tigray region where tears are not being shed, the Patriarch said, adding “our martyred children could have made a lot of history if they had been alive.”
However, despite the “broken hearts” for those whose lives were cut short, the church will pray for their souls to “rest in the kingdom of heaven.”
The Patriarch also extended His spiritual message of strength for the fathers and mothers of the fallen who are affected by “this grief” to not “hurt yourselves” because such suffering will not bring loved ones from the dead.
“So we urge you to strengthen your hearts, because we are a people of resurrection for whom the grave is not the end,” He said.
The Patriarch finished his message with a note that the existing opportunities of relative peace must be seized as opportunities to return the internally displaced civilians to their homes so that the rights of survivors of the war can be respected, their children can go to school, the elderly can be supported, and they all can “live free in their homes.”
Despite a near year-old peace process, more than 1.2 million Tigrayans remain in abhorrent conditions inside IDP camps across the Tigray region. Most of these civilians are from western, parts of southern, parts of north and north eastern Tigray that are still occupied by Amhara and Eritrean forces. AS

Tigrayan confidence: A businessman based in Addis:
"I don’t believe it would be very challenging to return Tigray to where it was before the war. Property may have been destroyed but it is the mind which built it. It needs the mind to return it to where it was and Tigrayans are not lacking in the mind. But a conducive environment that allows Tigrayans to work is necessary. The Interim Administration has made a promise to us. We assume that it will keep its promise. I am confident that we will work with the Administration as partners in tackling the challenges of our homeland."

We waited for so long to watch our kids go to school. Glory be to the Lord our God. Let the the rest of the kids in Tigray go to their schools. Education can not wait.
One day there’ll be an exhibit or documentary on #TigrayGenocide. It’ll be sad & force all to contemplate on how & when things went bad, & who knew what when. I look forward to the naming & shaming of those in powerful positions who aided & abetted genocide in #Tigray#Ethiopia.
❗️The way @POTUS & @FLOTUS betrayed not only #America|n values, but humanity itself around the world is appalling!
Joe Biden, a man, who couldn't stop bragging about writing a bill on Violence Against Woman Act (VAWA), his wife awards a rape apologist. I can't wait their humiliating defeat in 2024 polls.
@SecBlinken@StateDept Shame on you all!
