A very frustrating part in Minnesota is that the educational system is not ready for the immense influx and growing number of ESL students. I’m glad my admin supports us 100% but we always feel like we are patching holes instead of repairing it deep.

It is so impportant to hire more Spanish(or Somali)speaking deans to support our EL kids that are struggling with mental issues or are being harassed. It is hard to rely on google translate when a female student is trying to explain how another student is making her uncomfortable

@MrTomRad I was the "evil" teacher last year when I was the only one not allowing cell phones in sight. I gave them the last 5 minutes to socialize and use their phone if they listened. 3 warnings in a week about the phone and they got a call home , resulting that their phones were taken!

@MrTomRad She will be missed but with her passion , she will continue educating the public. Maybe she will be back for much needed equity counsellors in school . @MNTOY2020

@DrKCarlson Wow … I bet you were exhausted and wanted it behind you , that could be an explanation how you felt. Sometimes it takes us years to feel “deservingly proud” of ourselves.
