Anyone that’s friends with me knows I do this
It can be incredibly frustrating when people don’t initiate communication or reach out
Especially if you’re someone like me that has no shame about doing so
My brother reframed this for me a few years ago and I’ve ran with it
He said: instead of getting frustrated by it pride yourself on it. You do a rare thing that makes you a valuable friend
Tom Brady reveals his teammate Willie McGinest dragged him to a trainer who fixed a decade of elbow pain in 5 days without surgery
“He just grabs me, brings me into this little side training room, and Alex says, 'What's the problem?' 'My elbow hurts.' 'Okay, through manual therapy, muscle work, we're going to lengthen and soften all the muscles in your forearm, your bicep, and your tricep to relieve the tension on your tendon.'”
“'Your tendon doesn't hurt because they're too weak. They hurt because they're too tight.'”
Time goes by in an instant. First big wake up call is mid-30s. You realize you've been out of high school (HS) for equivalent time of your birth to HS graduation. So, ask them to marry you. Have kids. Take the trip. LIVE. We don't "have time." It'll be gone before you know it.
Tom Cruise revealed why he never tells anyone his goals
"sometimes you don't share your dreams, your goals with people"
pause at 0:19
"because sometimes it's so outrageous."
"you don't want to hear their comments."
he had a list of goals that were too crazy to say out loud.
he accomplished every single one.
then one night on set he couldn't sleep, lying there tensed up, trying to memorize everything -
pause at 1:20 - the moment he realized something.
"I just started laughing."
"I can only do the best I can."
that's the whole framework.

Joe Rogan: Weed is strange because everyone reacts to it differently. Some people become more productive, while others lose all motivation.
Guest: Dr. Paul Conti says cannabis narrows your attention. That's helpful if you're focused on something positive, but if you're anxious, it can make those thoughts even stronger.
Joe Rogan: That makes sense. I think disciplined people often use it as a way to unwind without losing their drive. It can make you relax, slow down, and come back refreshed.
Guest: It also seems to explain why it's so popular in jiu-jitsu.
Joe Rogan: Exactly. It helps people stay completely locked into the moment. I even enjoy it while lifting weights because it keeps me focused.
Takeaway: Cannabis isn't universally good or bad its effects depend on the individual, their mindset, and what they're focusing on.
We’ve grown accustomed to these enormous White House staffs. When Jefferson became President in 1801, he was all alone. He hired Meriwether Lewis to be his personal assistant and paid him $500 a year out of his own pocket. They lived alone together in the White House ‘like two mice in a church,’ as Jefferson put to his daughter.
Most people vastly under-exercise their dogs & it harms their mental and physical health. 30min, twice a day brisk walks (every day) is the bare minimum … & some need far more. @cesarmillan points out: If you truly love your dog, you’ll get it the exercise it needs.
Correction:
I made a mistake.
I don’t think Conor’s injury happened because he took 5 years off and his body wasn’t conditioned.
Watching this replay, it looks like he’d practiced that kick countless times. You can even see him warming it up backstage.
The problem was when he tried that kick, his body was still moving forward when his foot landed.
And his leg was bent around 20 degrees.
That’s a classic mechanism for an ACL (maybe MCL) injury that we see in the literature
Sometimes elite athletes get injured because elite sports are dangerous.
In 1776, the average colonist owned a firearm functionally identical to the standard infantry weapon of the British Army.
Civilian and military parity wasn't a loophole. It was the whole damn point.
Homeless people are homeless because they want to be homeless. When I worked in the food service industry I knew a guy who was homeless, started out on the lowest rung and worked his way up to manager, got a car and an apartment, all within a 12-16 month period. He had some anger management issues, not a perfectly well rounded guy. But he didnt want to be in the situation he was in, he took advantage of the few opportunities he had, and he got out of it. Homeless people either want to be homeless or are too far gone to ever truly be helped.
That version of McGregor was a pure athlete. No drugs, no steroids, no years of partying and extracurricular activities taking a toll on his mind and body. Fans have to accept that we’re never seeing that version of McGregor again.
He might come back. He might even win again. But he’ll never be the fighter who knocked out Aldo and dominated Alvarez. That version of Conor died the night he made $100M+ fighting Mayweather. He achieved generational wealth, became bigger than the sport, and never returned with the same hunger that made him great.

Every Christian knows this feeling.
It’s a lesson.
Read Job.
At times, God allows the death of what matters most to you in order to train your endurance in something immeasurably more important - your faith in Jesus.
James 1:2-4
2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters,[a]whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
Someone please explain the neurodivergent experience of feeling like I was mentally older than my peers as a child and now feel mentally younger now as an adult….
Mel Gibson on faith and surrender: “You are completely and utterly powerless over it. Ask for that power from somewhere else.”
He clings to seeking the kingdom of God first, as his dad taught.
Surrender, transcend your nature, give away resentments and self-pity, they’ll kill you.
A raw, honest talk about finding peace through faith.
Matthew 6:26: “Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?”
The fight is never over. People who reject God and the timeline of infinity are apes who have emotional reactions to whatever is happening, and see bad times as "the end." There is no end, neither in victory or defeat. This is a war for eternity.
