I was just listening to a podcast where someone was talking about teaching kids 'inferencing skills'.
Every example they gave of an inference was one that would be automatic (or at least fairly obvious) with relevant knowledge, but impossible without that same knowledge.

We got the call this week and despite it being the final week of a tiring first half term, it was a really really positive experience. The lead inspector was absolutely lovely and the atmosphere in school was not strained or tense at all. @Ofstednews have had a lot of negative
press lately and I'm not sure final week inspections are the best when we also need to assess pupils and they are shattered (esp the youngest chn), but clearly OFSTED are trying to change their attitude out in schools and I cannot fault the two inspectors at all. I did not feel
@jet2tweets@TUIUK It should be waived due to knowing there's an issue with the hotel. @Tui and yourselves shouldn't be selling this hotel knowing people get 'the Akti bug'!
@jet2tweets@TUIUK There are soooo many reports of illness in this hotel. We've booked with Jet2 and can't change hotels for free. You clearly know there's a problem with it
@jet2tweets@TUIUK Done this, told I'd incur a fee £50per person as they aren't aware of an issue at this hotel.. spent 1hour and couldn't sort it in a way that didn't hit ME in the pocket. I'll be travelling with my mum who has underlying health issues. Can't risk it

BTW I have2 v loved dogs

@BooksandChokers I adored the characters, the lyrical way you describe the scenes, thoughts and emotions. The way the story builds up to reach a crescendo foregrounded the feelings building up in Jasper and I really 'got' that dam bursting feeling she felt deep inside. Loved it!
Well, when this is published the YA readers and everyone in between will absolutely adore it! Fabulous fabulous book. A brilliant kickstarter for my summer holiday reading. @MacmillanKidsUK this is a true gem @The_UKLA This needs to be on the next list of award nominees!
