@Flame314@ConcordiaSem Congrats. They have a great reputation. If you need any help on an assignment or your thesis happy to help. Dr. Flame may need his own comic book series or movie adaptation.
@Samantha_SN1 As a prof I will hafta push back. Btwn 50-70% of college prof are untenured working on contracts per course. We have PhDs and make less than school teachers. Same age as you and I apply for new jobs every year for almost 20yr. No security. No benefits. It’s a 2 tier system.
@TheFP@uberliner@UriBerliner Thank you for writing this. As a center-left academic I increasingly saw activists take over the university and academy, closing any viewpoint diversity by calling it violence and hiring only other fellow activists.
We wish our followers who are celebrating a happy #Easter.
May this season of hope and new beginnings demonstrate how people of all faiths can find common ground and unity.
@VeteransENG_CA@CanadianForces@rcmpgrcpolice This is shameful. It okay to wish Christians Hsppy Easter, Hindus Happy Holi, Muslims Eid Mubarak, and many others Happy Nowruz.
I once thought that downplaying Christian culture was needed to support diversity but I’ve learned that my students just want to be included.
@FareedZakaria@CNN@RichardHaass@gcaw@SalehaMohsin It was hyperbolic. His whole point was that NBC is being hypocritical and that liberals are adopting illiberal tactics.
I’d like to ask the Justice how he sees his jurisprudence any less politically biased considering Cons labelled his Court activist and illegitimate.
@FareedZakaria It’s too late now but I’d really like to ask the Justice how he understands the diff btwn Con charges of Lib activism in his Court (& before) with Lib charges of Con activism today. How is his jurisprudence any more / less politically biased?
On Int'l Day to Combat Islamophobia, we remember all victims who've suffered the consequences of this & other forms of religious hate
We cannot let discrimination continue to spur deep divisions between our human family
We must urgently address the roots of such hate & violence
@LeosTolstoy If this was in Canada - he’s wearing a Sen jersey - he could have a case because the video was posted online without his permission. There is some question because he was in a public place but the video was focused on him and not just the crowd.
@TheHubCanada Critical theory was exciting in the 2000s as a challenge to hegemony. Now it’s hegemonic, but most ppl don’t understand it. This is why Habermas & Zizek are critical. And I think Nietzsche & Foucault would be also. Even Crenshaw has questioned it populist application.
@TheHubCanada However, the question needs to be whether, as an ideology which denies being one, has it killed the academic enterprise itself. Every conference, every article, every academic position now echoes and parrots the same ideas - where’s the innovation?
@TheHubCanada There are two truths here. 1) that critical theory has become the hegemonic ideology of the CDN uni but it still believes it’s the oppressed not oppressors; 2) that it hasn’t “killed” the academy but broadened it.
