Our World Cup projections are ready!
100,000 simulations of every stage of the tournament.
We hope you'll appreciate the level of detail. Here are our baseline ratings for each team.
Spoiler: USA/CAN/MEX are not in the top tier but get a boost from home-field advantage.
Talento y uso real.💡

Today we started rolling out SimGym — a system that creates “digital customers” that behave like real ones. They browse your site, complete tasks, and reveal optimization opportunities. You can even run A/B tests with *zero* live traffic! Spent a year developing it.
Shopify: The RenAIssance Edition
Sidekick updates, Agentic Storefronts for merchants, new tools for devs building commerce agents, AI simulations, and more 🧵
BFCM prep at @Shopify isn't about just clicking "auto-scale" and hoping for the best.
A lot of work goes in to keeping commerce chugging during the biggest weekend of the year. Here's what that looks like 🧵
Black Friday is a big deal. the entrepreneurs who make it happen? even bigger
that’s why we’re back on @SphereVegas, lighting up the world’s largest LED screen with their real-time orders
The future of design and software consulting are going to be agencies that help you finish the last 10% of vibe-coded applications.
They're going to help you with security, scalability, performance, and fixing those very small bugs where the LLMs get into the loop.
I don't know who's building it, but they're going to crash it
Agents will become a common way people shop. So today we are releasing 3 tools to make adding commerce to those agents trivial:
- Checkout Kit: embed commerce widgets and checkout(!) directly into your agent and chat. This is already being used by Microsoft’s @Copilot.
- Shopify Catalog: low latency global product search across millions of merchants
- Universal Cart: shop from any store, anywhere, in one cart
With these, you can build seamless embedded commerce experiences quickly, starting with all the best products by the best merchants in the world instead of having to sign them all up individually. No need to build a complex new checkout, or dealing with regulatory marketplace rules. Commerce just plugs in and feels seamless in conversations.
We believe commerce should be everywhere people are, so we’re making that as easy as possible for the AI age.
A small favor! My team (@Shopify Checkout) is hiring world-class software engineers. Do you or someone you know want to work on a planet-scale checkout? Work w/ an AI-accelerated R&D team & shape agentic computing? Develop best-in-class APIs? Send me a DM! 🤝 (Remote - Americas)
Checkout is deceptive. Most people see it as a simple payment form. How hard could that be? There in lies the trap. It's actually the culmination of all the logic and rules of a business determining whether they can faithfully accept a transaction and fulfill it. This is quite difficult to build as a platform for all merchants, given you have to generically model all of the commerce primitives behind it, and then convince them to configure their entire business on it. There, I just summed up @Shopify! Configure once, sell anywhere, including on Meta and TikTok properties.
What happens when a company goes all in on AI?
At Shopify, engineers are expected to utilize AI tools, and they’ve been doing so for longer than most.
In this live episode from LDX3 in London. — recorded two weeks ago — I spoke with @fnthawar, Head of Engineering, about how Shopify is building with AI across the entire stack.

Five interesting things about Shopify and how they use AI:
1. They were the first-ever company outside Microsoft to use GitHub Copilot... well before it was released!
2. They have no "budget limit" on AI tool spending per engineer, or per team
3. They not only allow, but encourage using AI tools (e.g. a copilot) during their remote tech interview
4. Despite going "all-in on AI" they are not reducing headcount. In fact, they are going on an "intern hiring spree:" recruiting 1,000 interns across the company the next year (as context, the company hs 3,000 engineers - so this is a large number!)
5. They are starting to go big on MCP and already have around a dozen internal MCP servers, this number growing quickly.
Shopify will enable USDC (Stablecoins on @Base) in Checkout via Shopify Payments and Shop Pay. Early access starts today, roll out throughout the year.
We think that stablecoins are a natural way to transact on the Internet and worked with coinbase to develop the commerce payment protocol smart contract that powers this work
Over the last 5 months, I’ve been hard at work on @Shopify Summit—an internal event aimed at building connection to our mission, product, and each other!
This 4-day event took place the last week of May in Toronto, Canada and was a total fever dream...
Shopify runs an internal fork of librechat, and we merge most everything back. I highly recommend other companies give this project a look for their internal LLM system. It works very well for us.
