Global temperatures in 2026 are on track to be the second warmest on record, at around 1.47C above preindustrial levels across the five different records assessed by Carbon Brief. Read more in our latest State of the Climate update for Q1 2026 here: https://t.co/Firo3rDHzR
"There is greater acceptance now that there is a detectable acceleration of warming". Great article by John Muyskens and Shannon Osaka in today's Washington Post: https://t.co/pelN5niKio
With cold outbreaks sweeping parts of the US, some have argued that climate change is to blame. But the proposed mechanism remains quite controversial in the scientific community, and the number of extreme cold events have been decreasing almost everywhere.
Recent assessments have found the last glacial maximum implies a climate sensitivity of 2.4C (1.4C to 5.0C): https://t.co/3b43E7sSw4
And the Pliocene implies a sensitivity of 3.1C (2.3C to 4.7C): https://t.co/V3LGLOWxcY
Paleoclimate evidence generally provides the strongest constraint on high ECS.
@seeteegee This is where so many SPAs fall down — they may remember the view state by updating the URL but don’t remember the UI state, so things like scroll position, selection, and focus get lost e.g. on back-navigation.
Who remembers this moment in Prince of Persia (1989) where a magic mirror suddenly blocks the hero's path (and what happens afterward)?

@JBezivin I seem to recall someone speaking on stage, at one of the OO conferences of old, about their experience with breakfast pancakes and real maple syrup: “15:00 l’après midi — toujours pas faim!” 😂
@GinnyGhezzo 🧐 Isn’t a letter / numeric grade (not just pass/fail) a kind of “graduated” signal, though, providing input for next assignment? Hopefully more feedback given than just the grade too. But I agree more could and should be done to make learning more exploratory, w. lower stress.
👀 @deonandan is presenting @Carleton_U Health Sciences (Zoom):

@Segway Do you have any updates on your Cube Series power stations? I'm surprised not to see any content about them in your timeline, from either the crowdfunding campaign or e.g. unboxing / test videos now that units have (apparently) started shipping out over the last month.
