Capacity building: social & environmental orgs. Campaigning: sewage-free Thames. Learning: to draw, do a handstand, & sing in Welsh (not at the same time, obvs)
We are going to need something big and real to get the next Prime Minister to act on the privatised water scam.
And there is nothing quite as big and real as the threat of a referendum on water ownership to concentrate the mind. The people make the decision, not the profiteers.

While publicly owned water companies in Europe pioneer micropollutant and pharmaceutical removal from sewage effluent ...
This is Thames Water's Cassington treated sewage outfall above Oxford's designated bathing water - not untreated - this is as good as it gets.

This chart might look political, but it’s really about data science. The UK can rank great or poorly depending on the KPIs you choose. Our choice of data decides how we view reality.
I’ve just launched a podcast, and it's been genuinely uplifting to make.
The Impact Files features conversations with leaders balancing commercial reality with doing the right thing for people & planet.
Thoughtful discussions, and a tonic amid the doom-scroll.
Oh look, it rained.
Areas of the country where water companies are currently dumped sh*t into rivers and on to beaches.
Brown, currently dumping sewage.
Red, has been dumping sewage within the last 24 hours.
@jojusolar no one is answering my emails or telephone calls to your London or Oxford offices. I’m an existing customer and have an urgent request. Please can someone contact me? Perhaps a DM here to start with. Thanks.
I have to say the latest correspondence between the @CommonsEFRA select committee and water companies makes for rather fantastic reading this morning.
Parliamentary select committees have the power to "send for persons, papers, and records", in other words if they ask for it you better bloody well supply it or else.
Topics include the boss of @sewateruk been ordered to provide the risk register for the Tunbridge Wells treatment plant, chairman of @thameswater been asked to confirm if they have actually paid the planned Dec bonus to senior management, @AnglianWater and @stwater about how they use bailiffs and peruse debts through the courts especially families on means-tested benefits etc, etc.
Truly fantastic stuff, bravo, 👏👏👏

Thames Water: Britain's biggest utility just got captured by toxic private credit markets
No rescue. No reform. Just control - seized through debt. That's the state of Thames Water, as campaign group @WaterWaysProtct writes in a guest article

Water companies have taken more than £70bn in dividends, leaving the public with leaking pipes and polluted rivers.
It's time for the government to nationalise water, to ensure firefighters have access to clean water supply to safely tackle fires.
If you're one of Thames Water's 16 million so-called "customers" the money from your bills should be spent on investment to tackle sewage, not wasted on expensive creditors and shareholders
Here's how to end the rip off and get PUBLIC OWNERSHIP 👇
It's fantastic to see Zoë Grünewald, @benhabib6 and the viewers of @MichelleDewbs show in absolute consensus!
Those responsible for this shit show must face the consequences.
We've handed @ThamesVP the evidence, it's time they arrested @thameswater CEO Chris Weston for public nuisance.
