On a personal note- I remember my shock when my own sister, who had children before I did, advised me to put liquid benadryl in the baby bottle. Said she did it all the time. I refused, and she got angry at me, accusing me of "thinking I was better than her."
Then the excuses, rage, insisting I didn't understand and my children must be "easier" than hers.
I wish it was my first experience with the mental gymnastics this type of thinking is based on, upheld with a hearty dose of social ostracization and attacks to those who oppose it.
But I've read peer reviewed studies asserting a mother who "looks the other way" when her child is SA by her partner is also a victim in need of support, and I've seen it with my own eyes. I've talked to children who were told by their mothers to "forgive," to understand "what she was going through."
I've sat in DV groups where women admit not only to assaulting their children but their partners- not in self defense. Because they *felt* frustrated, unheard or neglected- and be supported as victims.
I'm tired of it. I'm so tired of it. We are grown women, we should have a behavior expectation and responsibility at least equal to those we hold for children.
Worse- abusive women know of and use this belief system.
"73% of men who experienced female-perpetrated violence reported that their partner threatened to make false accusations versus less than 3% of males in the general population. Among men who experience female-perpetrated violence, 56% said their female partners actually did make false accusations that he physically or sexually abused her, compared to less than one percent in the general population. @alphafox Which is why it's goofy when people try to badger childfree people into having kids with vapid reasoning like: "legacy" and "it's the meaning of life" and "your kids would be so cute". I don't need a legacy; I can give life meaning myself; children are not accessories.
@SGMGTOW Everything she says is an hypothesis at best. The only way to test its reality is to look at what she does. What she says is the sizzle, the sales pitch, what she does is the steak.
