@ProfSimonFisher A 1.4% effect size is large but not unheard of (eg. GWAS studies of psychiatric disorders). Aside from its other shortcomings, I think the biggest take away here is that there is empirical evidence to support an evolution-driven genetic bias for some linguistic features
