Increased taxation is only half the problem. Public spending is the other. The left has made the right fear any discussion on public sector cuts. If you have to wait months to be seen on the NHS, why not abolish it? If the BBC can't be trusted to report the news, why not abolish it? If children are no better off in school than they would be at home learning online, why not abolish public education?

These failing public institutions are the justification for higher taxation. Get rid of them.

1. F = ma (Newton's Second Law)
Force = mass × acceleration.
Everything that moves or is prevented from moving obeys this. Every structural load, every vehicle dynamics problem, every rocket trajectory.

2. σ = F/A (Stress)
Stress = force ÷ area.
How concentrated a force is. A small force on a tiny area can be catastrophic. A huge force spread across enough area is manageable. This is why needles pierce and snowshoes don't sink.

3. Q = mcΔT (Heat transfer, sensible heat)
Heat energy = mass × specific heat capacity × temperature change.
How much energy it takes to heat or cool something. Every thermal system, every HVAC calculation, every cooling loop.

4. P = IV (Electrical power)
Power = current × voltage.
Why high-voltage transmission lines lose less energy than low-voltage ones. Why your phone charger gets warm. Every electrical system.

5. PV = nRT (Ideal Gas Law)
Pressure × volume = moles × gas constant × temperature.
How gases behave. Every engine, compressor, pneumatic system, and pressurised vessel.

6. ΔS ≥ 0 (Second Law of Thermodynamics)
Entropy of a closed system never decreases.
Why you can't build a perpetual motion machine. Why every energy conversion produces waste heat. Why engineering is fundamentally about managing irreversibility.

7. E = mc² (Mass-energy equivalence)
Energy = mass × speed of light².
The basis of nuclear engineering. Why a tiny amount of mass releases enormous energy. The equation that explains why uranium powers submarines for 25 years.

You don't need to solve these every day.
You need to feel them, to know when a system is violating one of them.
That's engineering intuition.

Jo Nagai was raising swallowtail butterflies at his home in Kobe, Japan, when he noticed something odd. The ones he had looked after as caterpillars seemed to recognize him. Wild butterflies fled. His didn't.
He was in second grade. He wrote a four-page letter to Dr. Martha Weiss, an entomologist at Georgetown University who had studied whether moths could retain memories through metamorphosis. He asked if she could help him design a version of her experiment for butterflies.
She said yes.
Using a muscle therapy device, Jo trained caterpillars to associate the scent of lavender with a mild vibration. When the caterpillars became butterflies, 70 per cent of them still avoided the lavender. Their brains had been completely rebuilt during metamorphosis. The memory survived anyway.
Then he bred them.
The offspring, which had never been trained, also avoided lavender. So did their grandchildren. Without ever experiencing the vibration, two generations of butterflies inherited an aversion to a scent their grandmother had been taught to fear.
Jo documented it all in a 33-page research paper and presented his findings at the International Congress of Entomology in Kobe in 2024. He was 10.
A second grader wrote a letter to a Georgetown professor, and together they found evidence that butterflies can pass memories down through generations.

Campaign for an end to public healthcare, education, the BBC, the state pension system and all subsidies. If Alistair Campbell and Andy Campbell had to work for their positions in society they would have different views on life in general.

Rick Rule: The Iran oil spike was temporary... the next one will be structural.

The oil industry is a cyclical, capital-intensive business with clear boom-and-bust cycles.

--Low prices lead to underinvestment.
- Underinvestment leads to supply shortages.
- Supply shortages lead to high prices.

We are currently still in the underinvestment part of the cycle.

The industry has been underinvesting in sustaining capital by roughly $1B/day.

Cumulatively, we're talking about roughly $1.5T of underinvestment. On top of that, the war has exacerbated this chronic lack of investment.

Meanwhile, global decline rates have doubled over the past 2 decades. We are now losing roughly 6 mbpd of production every year.

In other words, we need to replace the equivalent of roughly 50% of US oil production annually just to maintain current global production.

At the same time, we're barely looking for new oil fields. Annual oil & gas discoveries have fallen sharply over the past decades:

- Down 60% since 2010
- Down ~90% since 1960

When we do find new fields, it takes much longer to bring them online:

- 1990-1999: ~14 years
- 2020-2024: ~19 years

And the fields we discover? They are also getting smaller:

- 1970s avg: 150 Mboe
- 2010s avg: 40 Mboe

The combination of these factors means there are no quick fixes for the coming supply shortfall.

The next oil crisis won't be caused by a temporary geopolitical shock.

It'll be the result of decades of underinvestment finally catching up with the industry.

We, the people, need to demand an end to our dependency on the state. No public healthcare, no public education, no state pension system, no agricultural and energy subsidies. Remove prohibitive legislation on building new nuclear.
We need an environment free of the apparatus of socialism\communism.

Ukraine v Russia conflict paused due to depleted U.S. ammunition stockpiles. U.S. v Iran war paused for the same reason. There is no quick resolution without American boots on the ground. If the Strait of Hormuz is closed for several years there are no global oil inventories left when it reopens.
