This is spot on. 18 month ago the same fans wanted Howe out when we went through a really tough patch and we ended up winning out first trophy in donks. This fella has dragged this club to this level so he has earned our patience and respect

Newcastle United fans drove Sir Bobby Robson out of the club because 5th was perceived to be a failure after 3rd and 4th the previous two season and went into decline immediately.

Kevin Keegan quit, exhausted, saying he’d taken the club as far as he could.

Eddie Howe has achieved more than both of them. He’s hurting now. Booed off, having to take the blame for everything that’s happened over the last two years.

So, take a moment and ask, who could be better? If you can’t cut the most successful manager the club has had for 70 years some slack and give him some time to get things right… #nufc

@ToonPolls Players are miles off it - I’m not sure which manager in the world could get these players to CL level. Need to give him time - at least the end of the season! Admittedly he has made many mistakes and we are shocking but I just see no upside to getting rid right now.

@SebPHawkins @OliDugmore So fundamentally we agree that benefits provided by the state should be funded by everyone👍 Whether this is an actual loan as you say is another debate. Many of the financial experts believe it is not given T&Cs can vary but I’m no expert on that - maybe it’s just a bad loan.

@SebPHawkins @OliDugmore Ok then so why are bounce back loans (£2k -£50k) charged at interest free for first 12 months and then fixed at 2.5% but SLC loan is RPI + 3% for 30 years. Why should people who did not benefit from them fund them?

@faz42 @OliDugmore 100% - and I think the point I’m trying to subtly make is that none of those shared services would exist if students didn’t study medicine or teaching etc. Granted not every degree does that but we have some shared benefit from having folks go to HE and deliver for public good

Worried that we’re losing the key players that set standards at the club and knew what we were about in terms of effort and spirit. Longstaff, Lascelles, Ritchie, Wilson and Miggy all worked their socks off for the team and we need to make sure we keep that identity💪

Such a key part of AI which most normal people have not considered. If AI can outperform us in pretty much every department, what is important? A huge existential crisis is just round the corner for all of us and we need to understand what it is we want or need in our lives.

I am very excited about AI, but to go off-script for a minute:

I built an app with Codex last week. It was very fun. Then I started asking it for ideas for new features and at least a couple of them were better than I was thinking of.

I felt a little useless and it was sad.

@s8mb @rcolvile @thetimes Also incentivising people to move abroad - either by working where SLC don’t know you’re earnings or encouraging students to study in places like Germany for free for higher education. Mortgages are pretty consistent wherever you live in the world but education fees are not.
