@ziegfri3d@bryan_johnson Because the dry sauna offers different health benefits than a red light sauna, and he doesn’t need to save time this is his job
@bryan_johnson It’s also abundantly clear what a person thinks about themself based on their treatment towards others. You will be hard pressed to find a genuinely confident individual who is generally cruel
@bryan_johnson It’s a negative feedback loop too, because people will then judge themself for being so negative. Failing to realize we’re ALL evolutionarily wired this way. However, while this innate quality can’t be avoided, drowning yourself in screen time can be.
@TrustlessState Did Elon have this trajectory in mind all along when acquiring Twitter, or did it all unfold organically after the acquisition happened?
I teach this on a weekly basis. 3 principles
1. Be real- Don’t overanalyze your words. Know what your intention for the conversation is and speak it from the heart
2. Be curious- When the other person is speaking, hang on their every word. Do not assume anything. Ensure you understand what they are really saying
3. Have faith- Whatever is going to happen is going to happen. Be open minded to any outcome and remind yourself it’s for a reason
We’re wired to focus on the negative, our ancestors had to for survival. This is why it takes great effort to develop the skill of optimism, it goes against our human nature. But it is a skill, and can be developed by anyone who makes the effort to.
Something that changed the game for me: calling out my inner-bitch every single time I see it. That negative self sabotaging voice we all have. Anytime it pops up, I squash it immediately. It’s allowed me to distance myself from my own innate negativity.
@DearS_o_n Lack of purpose and drive. Most guys have an idea what they want, but no idea why they want it. The real willpower to succeed comes from the Why, not the what.
@DearS_o_n It's undoubtedly a massive ingredient. Many people fail to realize that we all have faith one way or another. The differentiator lies within which direction your faith leans. Do you believe you will make it or not?
I've seen huge benefits from perpetually possessing a singular "main goal". Just 3 rules: it genuinely excites me, can be definitively achieved, is within 1 year away. When it's recognized, or time expires, I pick a new one immediately.
That's not to say all other priorities go out the window. But knowing what my primary aim is has provided a new level of clarity and purpose each day.
@colejaczko Well said, everyone can smell self consciousness... It isn't so easy to just snap your fingers and have self confidence though. You must have valid reasons to like yourself, or that fake confidence can quickly veer into cockiness.
We're stimulated in one form or another from the time we wake up until the time we go to sleep. It's a problem.
There is power in boredom and being alone with your thoughts. Everyone should get their daily dose. A good place to start is while driving, hold the song or podcast for a few and watch some good stuff bubble up.
@SahilBloom Especially with regards to clarity of who you are, aka self awareness. Many people think it can be achieved solely through routine reflection. What's overlooked is that the quality of this reflection is largely dependent on the quality of the experiences being reflected on.
@elonmusk Optimism is a developable skill just like any other.
It requires effort at first, as we are evolutionarily hardwired to focus on the negative.
But, ultimately, it is a decision, and one that gets much easier the more you make it.
I can't speak from experience as I am blessed to have never been there. But I've worked with many who have.
The answer is there is no straight answer, it depends on the individual and the circumstances that put them there.
However, if I had to pinpoint 1 universally beneficial common denominator, it would be ACTION.
Something, anything, is better than nothing. The only guaranteed way to remain stuck is to remain idle.
@SahilBloom Yet another reason why being present is so fundamental. That suboptimal outcome is history- take the lesson, now let it go. All your power to bounce back from whatever happened is right here right now
