@AppFrodFc That will be appreciated. I knew Gerry very well. He often called to see Bob Steels and me at the Scun Tel sportsdesk, 1980s. Always requesting we covered more home games for the Sat Sports Tel. Not easy as 'copy' had to be phoned over from B. Hall Club, box at top of stairs!
@AppFrodFc I reported the tie for Steel News, the BSC weekly paper. Were Raz Clayton and Gerry Spencer team manager and club secretary respectively? Was Peter Wainwright in attack, perhaps with Ian 'Chalky' Whyte? A long time ago!
The next Brigg Yellerbellies History Group public meeting is coming up at the town centre's Lord Nelson Hotel, Market Place, on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 (2pm-4pm). All welcome - admission free, no need to book places in advance. We'll be chatting about 'old Brigg'.
Pop along and enjoy the next meeting of the #Brigg Yellerbellies History Group at Brigg Servicemen's Club on Tuesday, October 15, from 2pm. Admission free. The bar will be open.
@AFRailway Queen Victoria entered production in 1954 for the Appleby-Frodingham Steel Company. Was the model built during this firm's ownership or after the British Steel Corporation took over in 1967 when the industry was nationalised? It's a very impressive model.
@IBLRG Best wishes to the @IBLRG and thanks for posting this seasonal pic. Note that snow appears to have been cleared from the edges of both platforms.
@IBLRG Note that platform two (left), for trains to Sheffield, is still full-length and yet to be truncated. The coal merchant's yard appears to be operational in the distance on the right, beyond the car.
@onthisGTFCday The old Manor sportsground shown on the map today forms part of a nature reserve known as Holland Park. Did Grimsby Pelham travel to and from #Brigg by train? The ground adjoined the railway station. #GTFC
