▪️Pune metro line from Hadapsar to Loni Kalbhor along with a spur line towards Saswad Road Railway station has already been approved by the Maharashtra State Cabinet.
▪️This line is now awaiting PIB and Central Cabinet approvals.
▪️ Maharashtra Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, has now ordered Maha Metro to extend this spur line from Saswad Road Railway station upto the upcoming Chhatrapati Sambhaji Raje Purandar International Airport.
▪️This would require construction of a tunnel under Dive ghat. A road tunnel will also be made alongside the metro tunnel to provide easy access to the airport from Hadapsar side.

▪️2766 acres (91%) land acquired for Purandar International Airport till now!
▪️This is probably the fastest land acquisition done for any major greenfield airport in India!
▪️50% owners have already received their compensation while overall 91% land owners have given their consent. Compensation settlement is still ongoing and it will be completed by August 2026.
▪️There are many more land owners who are ready to give their land by consent. However, many legal and administrative problems are stopping them from doing so.
▪️Since land acquisition has crossed the 90% mark, tenders will be floated very soon, by the end of September or early October.
▪️This airport project also includes an Aerocity around the main airport on an area of 253.21 hectares, which equates to around 625 acres. Land acquisition has begun for this Aerocity as well.
▪️This Aerocity will include developed plots, hotels, convention centres and other facilities. The deadline for acquiring land for this Aerocity is set as 15th August 2026.
▪️Here are the specifications of this airport:
👉 Runway: Two parallel runways of 4000x60 metres.
👉 Capacity: 75 MPPA (Million Passengers Per Annum).
▪️To execute the Chhatrapati Sambhaji Raje International Airport in Purandar, the Maharashtra government formed a dedicated Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), known as Pune (Purandar) International Airport Limited (PIAL), which includes a state-backed funding arrangement driven by CIDCO (51% stake), MADC (19%), MIDC (15%), and PMRDA (15%).

The Kasheli Depot, the operational backbone of Mumbai Metro Line 5, is steadily taking shape with 23% overall physical progress achieved as of June 2026.
Spread across approximately 27 hectares near Kasheli Toll Plaza, the depot is being developed to support the long-term operations, maintenance and stabling requirements of the 32 km Thane–Bhiwandi–Kalyan–Ulhasnagar Metro corridor. Designed to accommodate around 30 trainsets, the facility will include inspection bays, workshop lines, a test track, a Depot Control Centre, administrative facilities, staff quarters, utility infrastructure and advanced maintenance systems.
Given the site's challenging marine clay conditions, #MMRDA has adopted advanced ground improvement techniques in consultation with #IITBombay to ensure long-term structural stability.
At the same time, temporary inspection, testing and commissioning facilities are being developed to support the phased rollout and early operational readiness of #MumbaiMetro Line 5.
As construction progresses, the Kasheli Depot is set to become the technical and operational hub that will power safe, reliable and efficient metro services across Thane, Bhiwandi, Kalyan and Ulhasnagar.
Hon'ble Chief Minister Shri @Dev_Fadnavis said, "The Kasheli Depot reflects Maharashtra's commitment to building modern and reliable public transport infrastructure. Metro Line 5 will strengthen connectivity across Thane, Bhiwandi, Kalyan and Ulhasnagar while advancing our vision of a developed, well-connected Maharashtra."
Hon'ble Deputy Chief Minister and Chairman, MMRDA, Shri @mieknathshinde said, "The Kasheli Depot will be central to the safe and efficient operation of Metro Line 5. Its steady progress brings the Mumbai Metropolitan Region closer to faster, reliable, and high-capacity public transport connectivity."

Looks like large-scale projects in Pune are finally moving ahead! The Outer Ring Road is already under construction and moving ahead at a good speed and now the HCMTR project also seems to be taken seriously by the authorities.
▪️Pune District Collector, Mr. Jitendra Dudi, has ordered the concerned government departments to submit land acquisition proposals for their respective departments in the next 20 days.
▪️This is significant as 85% of the land required for the HCMTR project is held by various departments of the government. Accordingly, this land can be acquired pretty quickly.
▪️Nearly 60% of the land required for the project is already owned by the Maharashtra Government.
▪️Another 25% consists of existing roads.
▪️As a result, only about 15% of the land will need to be acquired, significantly reducing the challenges associated with land acquisition.
This is how the upcoming Pune HCMTR elevated circular corridor project will be constructed.
It will have a 6-lane elevated road on a single pillar, and hence, will require minimum land acquisition.
Here are some specifications of this circular elevated road project:
▪️Total length: 35.96 km fully elevated
▪️6 lanes
▪️Width: 24 metre RoW
▪️Will pass over 34 major junctions in the city.
▪️The circular elevated corridor will begin at Bopodi junction and will encircle the city before concluding at Vishrantwadi junction.
▪️It will have up/down ramps at 17 locations.
▪️Design speed:
• Main carriageway: 50 kmph
• Ramps: 25 kmph
▪️Land requirement in terms of length:
• Existing roads: 17.8 km
• Nalas, canals & river crossings: 5.28 km
• Forest land/open land, greenfield and railway land: 5.34 km
• Built-up area, slums & vacant land: 7.54 km

#WATCH | Jind, Haryana: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off India's first hydrogen-powered train between Jind and Sonipat tomorrow
The train has been developed using indigenous technology. The train is powered by hydrogen fuel cell technology, which converts hydrogen into electricity to propel the train. The process produces only water vapour as a by-product, resulting in zero carbon emissions during operation.
