Funny as this bottle job was (and it was extremely funny), someday Robbie Keane is going to come sniffing around the Irish manager position. When he does, we would all do well to remember a few particulars about his stint in Israel🧵
In an interview with Al Jazeera on Monday, a displaced Palestinian child in Gaza revealed that she had been eating donkey food amid food shortages caused by Israel's war on Gaza.
“We estimate that at least 90% of Gaza’s children under the age of five are affected by one or more infectious diseases.”
@unicefchief on the unimaginable suffering of children in Gaza - they need a permanent humanitarian ceasefire now. https://t.co/jE9FSJzjTQ
“In just over four months in #Gaza there have been more children, more journalists, more medical personnel, and more UN staff killed than anywhere in the world during a conflict," writes @UNLazzarini in his letter to the UN General Assembly.

In #UNSC mtg on Middle East, @MSF SG Christopher Lockyear says: "Israeli forces have attacked our convoys, detained our staff, bulldozed our vehicles, hospitals have been bombed and raided. And now for a second time, one of our staff shelters has been hit. This pattern of attacks is either intentional or indicative of reckless incompetence. Our colleagues in #Gaza are fearful that as I speak to you today, they will be punished tomorrow."
He adds: "The humanitarian response in Gaza today is an illusion. A convenient illusion that perpetuates a narrative that this war is being waged in line with international laws. Calls for humanitarian assistance have echoed across this chamber. Yet in Gaza we have less and less every day, less space, less medicine, less food, less water, less safety."
Every day we see photos of these young Palestinians in Gaza - doctors, nurses, lawyers, teachers, students - killed for no crime whatsoever. An entire generation of innocent young people, with hopes and dreams and ambitions, getting wiped out.
...when you study genocide, you always look back and say, “There were all these signs that it’s going to happen, and why was nobody doing anything about it, or at least warning that it’s about to happen?”
@bartov_omer on how to define genocide.

The @idf said it targeted “a suspicious vehicle containing several terrorists”
The only ppl in the car were 3 girls—Rimas, 14, Taline, 12, and Liane, 10, Chour—their grandma, Samira Ayoub, and the girls’ mom, Hoda Hijazi Chour, who was driving. All were killed except the mother
The Israeli bombing campaign in Gaza might be killing children at a rate unprecedented in 21st-century conflict, this data suggests.

An unlawful Israeli strike on a family in a car on November 5 should be investigated as an apparent war crime. The attack killed three girls and their grandmother and wounded their mother. @HRW. https://t.co/dQWP4kG4Of
Last night giant projections illuminated @EU_Commission sending a powerful message to the leaders of the EU for #Israel-#Gaza#CeasefireNOW.
The international community, led by bodies like the EU, must mobilise to bring about peace to save millions of lives.
#Palestinians ask war crimes court to probe #Israel over genocide allegations Al-Haq, @AlMezanCenter & @pchrgaza asked the ICC to focus on #Israeli air strikes on densely populated civilian areas of #Gaza, siege of the territory & displacement’

By repeatedly evoking the mantra that Hamas uses Palestinians as human shields, Western leaders are in effect saying that Israel bears no legal or moral responsibility for killing thousands of Gazan civilians. This is an insidious message to be parroting at the current time.
The oft-cited Western claim that Hamas uses "human shields" is pernicious. Yes, it imbeds itself in and under civil infrastructure. Like Israel it cares little for the safety of civilians. But there is zero evidence it hides/fires behind civilians the way the expression suggests.
"There’s a sniper who attacked 4 patients inside the hospital. One has a gunshot directly in the neck, he has quadriplegia, and another has a gunshot in the abdomen... We had two neonate patients die because the incubator is not working because there is no electricity" #Gaza
We @ICRC are shocked & appalled by the images & reports coming from Al-Shifa hospital in #Gaza.
The unbearably desperate situation for patients & staff trapped inside must stop. Now.
Hospitals, patients, staff & health care must be protected. Period.
According to the latest figures from the @UN, more than 74% of the 11,078 Palestinians killed in Gaza are children, women, and the elderly:

It is not normal that we @ICRC need to repeat this each and every day.
Doctors, surgeons and nurses in #Gaza, in the North&South, are reporting every hour/minute on the extreme conditions they have to work.
It is unacceptable and it should stop.
Rules are clear and known.
The information coming from the Al Shifa hospital is distressing.
It cannot continue like this. Thousands of wounded, displaced people and medical staff are at risk.
They need to be protected in line with the laws of war.
