@daehruoyserehw (My Hallowe’en costume circa seventh or eighth grade was Frank Dominio from Thomas Ligotti’s My Work is Not Yet Done, to put things into perspective.)
@Kamimamimashita I feel like the furthest bottom right corner here is either Girls' Last Tour or Windy Tales. I'd also be curious as to where Smile of the Arsnotoria lands given its whole… everything.
@njsilvadyne See, it doesn't even have to be that for it to be done in a degendering way. There are people who I very consciously say, "Actually, *she*" to precisely because they're not using "they" in good faith despite my generally preferring "they."
"Anime was better before the perver--"
It was always perverts. It was ramshackle teams of freaks all the way down. The roots of foundational moe culture would make your head spin. Every notable anime aesthetic and archetype was introduced as some specific weirdo's fetish.
@datLucario Very similar feelings on my own part, honestly. Like the idea of being thought of as a "man" is immediate dysphoria, but "boy"? Absolutely fine, lovely even. More so than "woman," really.
