For every $HAWK that grabs mainstream media attention, there are easily another 1,000 rug pulls that go unnoticed. Let’s stop sugarcoating it: this is public robbery.

Any country even remotely serious about crafting sane crypto regulation needs to ensure strict penalties for this kind of behavior are included in the legislation. Sure, there should be exceptions for legitimately failed projects—innovation needs room to grow—but when the rug is intentional and planned, it’s not failure. It’s theft and fraud, plain and simple.

And let’s be real: theft and fraud wouldn’t be allowed or given a pass in any other industry on the planet. So why is it tolerated here?

The worst part is how long this behavior has been ignored by the industry and even some crypto-friendly governments. It’s a stain on the space, and the fact that it continues to happen unchecked only enables more of it. It’s time to stop pretending this is acceptable and start holding bad actors accountable.
