Understand this: The movies and shows about the crucifixion have been tame when compared to what He actually went through.
Even The Passion Of The Christ was forced to hold back a little in order to avoid an X rating.
Crucifixion was, and still is, arguably the most excruciating death someone can experience.
The night before in Gethsemane, He was sweating blood. This is known as hematidrosis. This would have caused His skin to become extremely sensitive, thus making the beatings to come even worse.
The fear He felt was the beginning of His feeling the weight of our iniquities being laid on Him.
Yet - in this moment, He didn’t demand that the Father take it from Him. He only asked for the cup to pass Him over if it was within the Father’s will.
Up next came the Cat of Nine Tails, or a Roman Flagrum. This was a weapon with long leather “tails”, each embedded with sharp bones and metal.
He was flogged 39 times as Jewish law mandated “40 minus one”, because 40 was said to kill a man.
This flogging wasn’t like being punished by your father’s leather belt.
Every strike tore flesh, every strike exposed muscle. Every strike exposed nerve endings. Every strike tore flesh to the bone.
This would be like getting struck with razor blades over and over again, leading to hypovolemic shock from blood loss.
Oh, and the crown of thorns? These weren’t rose thorns. These were thorns which were 2-3 inches long. Beaten into his skull.
These thorns would have pierced his skull, tripping the trigeminal nerve, thus causing unimaginable pain and even more blood loss from the dozens of head wounds.
At this point, extreme nausea and dizziness would begin to set in.
What came next? Carrying the cross. Which weighed around 300lbs. This would be like carrying two full kegs on your back.
Splinters and wood grating against the open flesh on His back. And He had to carry it 650 yards, or close to a half mile.
Imagine carrying a log on your back after being skinned alive.
Up next? He was nailed to the cross with spikes 5-7in in length. Piercing His wrists - this no doubt pierced the median nerve, causing extreme burning sensations up and down His arms.
A spike was driven through his ankles - severing nerves and tendons. This would have felt like standing on broken glass every time He pushed Himself up in order to breathe.
He suffered for 6 hours.
His chest muscles collapsing, making every single breath a fight for life.
His shoulders were dislocated, His arms stretching unnaturally long.
His heart was struggling to pump blood.
He was extremely dehydrated, His lips cracking.
His heart more than likely literally ruptured from the stress.
And on top of all of that, He had to feel a separation with the Father for a period of time in order to REALLY bear the weight of our sin.
He took up this burden for ALL sin before Him, and ALL sin which came after Him.
HE DID IT ALL FOR US.
To free us. To defeat sin. To give us a pathway to the Kingdom.
Every sin we commit is exactly why He had to do it.
And the real kicker? He knew what was coming when He rode into Jerusalem … and He didn’t turn around. He kept going.
For us.
Napoleon Bonaparte once taunted a Catholic cardinal by threatening: “Your Eminence, are you not aware that I have the power to destroy the Catholic Church?” To which the cardinal quipped: “Your Majesty, we Catholic clergy have done our best to destroy the Church for the last eighteen hundred years. We have not succeeded, and neither will you.”
On this day in 1940 Joseph Stalin and 5 other members of the Soviet Politbureau, sign an order for the execution of 25,700 Polish intelligentsia, including 14,700 Polish POWs, in what will become known as the Katyn massacre. Never forget. 🇵🇱
Do dramatycznych wydarzeń doszło w Beskidzkim Centrum Onkologii–Szpitalu Miejskim w Bielsku-Białej.
The story of Eilert Dieken, the murderer of the Ulma family, is often presented as a shocking exception, a rare case of a perpetrator who slipped through the cracks of postwar justice. In reality, his unpunished life was not unusual at all. It was the norm. Tens of thousands of German Nazi perpetrators who carried out executions, deportations, street round-ups, and crimes against civilians in occupied Poland never faced a courtroom. They returned quietly to West Germany, resumed their lives, raised families, built careers, and lived in comfort. Many served again in public positions as policemen, teachers, lawyers, businessmen, or local officials. Their victims were buried or left in unmarked pits, their families broken, their communities erased, while the men who destroyed them blended seamlessly into the postwar order.
This pattern becomes even clearer when we look at what happened after the Warsaw Uprising. For two months in 1944, German units carried out one of the largest civilian massacres of the Second World War. In the Wola district alone, over forty thousand Polish men, women, and children were murdered in a matter of days. Hospital patients were burned alive, clergy were shot at their altars, and entire families were executed in courtyards. In Ochota, Wola, Czerniaków, and other districts the violence continued with the same cruelty: mass shootings, rapes, torture, and the systematic destruction of entire neighborhoods. When the killing was over, German forces dynamited houses, burned libraries and churches, and leveled the city block by block, determined to erase Warsaw from existence.
Despite this unprecedented crime, almost none of the commanders or rank-and-file perpetrators responsible for the massacres were ever punished. The officers who oversaw the executions of thousands died peacefully in their beds decades later. The men who set fire to hospitals and shot children in the streets returned to ordinary lives. They were respected as veterans. They were seen as honorable citizens. They were never held accountable for the horrors they inflicted.
Meanwhile, countless Polish victims, rescuers, teachers, priests, underground couriers, and ordinary civilians who stood against German terror had their stories buried or distorted. Cold War politics, shifting alliances, and selective memory often meant that the suffering of Poles was pushed aside or treated as a footnote. Those who endured the worst brutality were denied the justice and recognition they deserved.
To say that Dieken lived freely is to tell only one small part of this larger truth. The murderers of the Ulma family lived unpunished. The murderers of tens of thousands of civilians in Warsaw lived unpunished. And thousands more, whose names history never recorded, faded into comfortable postwar anonymity.
This is not about revenge. It is about acknowledging the full moral weight of what happened. Justice was denied to the dead. History was softened for the perpetrators. And truth requires that we do not hide this reality. Remembering the scale of impunity is part of honoring the victims themselves, because it restores to them the dignity that the postwar world too often failed to provide.
This, too, is part of history and it must be told.

German demolition teams set the
🇵🇱 National Library in Warsaw
ablaze 🔥
As a result Poland suffered the greatest singular loss in its entire cultural history. The urn you see below - on display at the rebuilt library today - contains all that remained...
The library was not razed as result of combat, or military requirements. Contrary to popular belief some of the worst acts of destruction in Warsaw were not committed during combat phase of the 1944 Uprising, but only after its capitulation on 2nd of October 1944.
Following capitulation the German army introduced a systematic plan of demolition of whatever was left of the city. As per orders, the destruction was done "...for the benefit of the future generations of Germans." The Poles were to "...cease to be a problem for our children & all our future generations".
The irreplaceable losses included at least 39,000 precious hand written manuscripts and approximately 200,000 books from the 15th to 19th century period, as well as 60,000 drawings and engravings, 25,000 music sheets and 10,000 maps. The legacy of a thousand years of national history...
All gone in a terrifying spasm of pure, unrestrained, vile barbarity.
