death is imminent. you’re in time and time ends. you’re actually clay and dust on the verge of returning back a sediment into the soil. you’re leaving the world. why then, for the love of all that is holy, don’t you devote all your life to what doesn’t die, to what is eternal, to only that which is real—God?
I am relentless because I have seen what happens to men who stop believing there is more for them. the fire that once drove them becomes a memory they occasionally bring up over dinner. men my age already talking about their best days in the past tense. I cannot accept that for myself. I refuse to spend the rest of my life looking backward at the person I used to be. I will not. I will not.
your highest duty to God, right this second, is to retrieve your attention from where it lies outside of you. brother, you’re half a man. you’re barely alive. you operate on a regressed sentience. don’t you know it’s your birthright to live and love and feel—fully? but how can you, when your phone, the news (which is completely irrelevant to you), your unjustified fears (about things that will never happen), your past mistakes and grudges and pains (that have long overstayed their visit in your psyche)—distract you senseless? you think distraction is something trivial? what if I tell you it’s the cause of all your misery? nobility today is being able to control yourself from checking notifications. utterly shameful I have to say that. but we’ve devolved so low. and that’s the truth. now, swallow your pride and start retrieving your attention.
If you don't want to make mistakes, I doubt you will be super successful because failure is the best teacher.
Also very important to learn from mistakes and not repeat them!
There are 3 things you can sell:
1) Your time, capped at 24 hours
2) Your things, capped by inventory
3) Your mind, for all of history, capped by how many rooms you could be in
Social media changed that completely. A brain and an internet connection can change your life.
