You are those who fight so that others can live. Your lives are at stake. Families are at stake. Your future hangs in the balance. And so you fight! You fight because you have no other choice. You have courage, I give you that!

We Millennials are scattered all over the world. Many are raising kids now & are quietly exiting the stage. Nigeria stole & destroyed our youth.

My hope is that you will find the courage, the wisdom, & the tenacity to continue with the good fight. What politics has destroyed, let your courage fix it. I SEE YOU, ALL OF YOU!

Update: This morning, President Bola Tinubu (@officialABAT) pleaded with the court not to order the @TheJusticeDept (DOJ), @FBI, and @DEAHQ to release his alleged heroin-trafficking records. President Tinubu finally admits that the dispute involves criminal records concerning him and pleads with the court to block the records from being released.

President #Tinubu cites his right to privacy as the reason the alleged #heroin-trafficking records should not be released and states that the records are being sought “to influence politics in a foreign nation” (in other words, to make him lose the upcoming #Nigerian presidential election).

President #Tinubu goes on to essentially argue that even the Nigerian public’s interest in his background and fitness for office does not give the public a right under FOIA to obtain the withheld information in his law-enforcement records. Nigerians, this is your President.

What makes the trouble of Nigeria more depressing is that it is the story of the betrayal of elite. You see it repeated again and again. In 1993 the Igbo woman in Ogbete market voted for MKO Abiola without being prodded. They knew it was about liberation not ethnicity. But the elite had other calculus. Those who ate with Abiola went to sell him to Abacha. That woman chants for Peter Obi in spite of treacherous Governors. The same can be said of the legislators and defectors. They make silly jokes that who or what money cannot buy more money can buy. And they leave the people hungry and angry

Have just arrived the US. These days travel reminds me of who we used to be. When I first traveled to the UK in the early 70s.I did not have to have a visa from Lagos. Our Asian friends still enjoy that privilege. Some of my friends used to finish class on Friday fly overnight to London go shopping on Saturday, party all night, get on a flight on Sunday and be in class on Monday. Which undergrad would contemplate that today.
The international community punishes people from countries that have not been well governed. Visa requirement is usually a first test. So when I hear the swag of those who talk about experience I want to remind them that their experience devalued Nigeria.
