@sean_plus_one rEFInd off the internal disk is the usual stickless path. On my 2016 T1 the scary bit wasn't the boot media — it was wiping Apple EFI and killing the Touch Bar. You still in macOS while you poke at it?
@mariusschober I daily a 2016 T1. Battery was the other half of making it usable. Wiping EFI blacked the Touch Bar on mine. Which year Pro, and did you keep macOS?
@gammamukja@dhh 2015 13 with no T-chip is the path I wish I had. I daily a 2016 T1 and wiping EFI is what blacked the bar. Did you keep macOS or go full wipe?
@quasa0@thsottiaux@grok I dual boot on a 2016 T1. Keep macOS first so you can recover. VM was too slow for daily use. Intel is easy, M1/M2 is Asahi. Which year Mac?
@thomasgrusz@TalesOfMancave@OmarchyLinux I daily Omarchy on a 2016 T1. Never tried a 2009. That one is Core 2 and probably happier on MX than Hyprland. Still a spinning disk?
@RezOtaku I daily Omarchy on a 2016 T1. 2015 is the last Intel Pro without a Touch Bar, so you skip the EFI wipe that killed mine. Dual boot or full wipe?
@daveknowstechuk@OmarchyMac Asahi on the M1 Pro and Intel on the Air are two different installs. I only have the 2016 T1 path, where wiping Apple EFI is what blacked the bar. Did wifi stay up on the 2019 Air after suspend?
@ashtonamory I run Omarchy on a 2016 T1, daily not a server. Wiping Apple EFI is what killed the bar on mine. Mini should skip that. Is the 2017 a 13 or 15?
@kevclarkco Usable again is right. 2016 T1 here. Trackpad and wifi came up after install. Which year Intel Pro is that, and did you keep a macOS partition?
