@LukeGromen@NickNemo17 Why would metals stop trading at $4400? If paper gold wasn't buying metal, then why would anyone hold their paper? That price would be tanking hard. How low would that price be allowed to go?
@LukeGromen@NickNemo17 You recently said "if dollars can't get you copper then..." What about: if paper gold (dollars, effectively) can't get you gold... what then? How do you see that playing out in terms of prices on the screen?
@mrwebber4@oriental_ghost As you said to me - physical buying reduces their reserves and so forces them to raise the price in order to ration reserves.
@LukeGromen Here in the UK, operating on babies without anaesthetic was the norm until the mid 80s because it was "backed by science" that they couldn't feel pain. Seriously. No science is required for that to be obviously nonsense. Science is not required for many things.
@LukeGromen I also prefer to rely on subjective experience (my own) - I'm not a "backed by science", "data driven" sort of person. I find all of that to be all manner of awful and a very dead way of approaching life.
@LukeGromen I see you follow Jack Kruse, probs better to look at him. The main point as I see it is that the mechanism of harm being heating of tissue (and given that the power is not high enough for this there is therefore no harm) is false. The mechanism of harm is disruption of signalling
@LukeGromen@twocryptodogs@DerivativesDon@tomkeene Not if the global economy is rolling over and we are getting a giant deflationary impulse. Pension funds and governments globally will be buying Treasuries hand over fist. Sell equities buy bonds, piggybacking on Fed doing the same.
@LukeGromen@dampedspring You assume you know what the reason for the market action was, but in reality, you donโt know. Many other factors could produce the same result.
@LukeGromen@RudyHavenstein Or there is no physical. So people sell their paper gold claims as they know they are worthlessโฆ what happens to the โprice of goldโ, given that no physical is trading?
@freegolds@PhiPho@RobKoot2@KarelMercx It may be a better move than gold if gold becomes world oil currency and all paper burns. The โgold must flowโ argument for no taxation is gone - itโll be confiscated for sure in that scenario - national security, and rightly so, unfortunately.
@LukeGromen@Woland1233 Yeah, but he CANโT print those, so he CAN default on them. You canโt disappoint financial markets, you can disappoint the populace. They are trained to expect it.
@mrwebber4@VictorTheClean3 In that case, the gold price is in fact determined by physical metal. If physical demand is too high at a given price then that paper price must be raised to ration physical. Hence, physical metal sets the price.
@LukeGromen@Ross__Hendricks Yes, and hyperinflation is buying wvery one of the hyperdeflating assets for freshly minted cash - not QE. And yet you think there wonโt be HI, as govts continue to increase the pile of assets to be hyperdeflatedโฆ
