@Seaforde1 The discomfort we may be feeling towards the calls for change is our willingness to recognise there is a truth to this. There was great harm done to many people, many of those who directed & facilitated this harm are today still venerated for the ‘good works’ & inequality exists.

I am not sure noting there were ‘free’ black slave owners, or there was slavery in Africa is a strong counter argument.

@Seaforde1 Thanks Deb. There is certainly a lot of heat & noise in many conversations at the moment. We must however acknowledge much of this anger is justifiable. It is uncomfortable, as white people, to recognise there is massive discrepancy in the lived experiences of black people 1

We ALL do have ‘it won’t happen to me’ & for many that is presenting in their willingness to hear yet choose not to follow the guidance on social distancing. For others it’s smoking, eating etc
