It’s probably keep going down
Reading news via agents is just a much better experience. However it’s a problem because without reporters, we can’t get quality news
So maybe in the future the labs pay for news? Who knows
They are slowly getting less and less attention so ad revenue will go down too
A trend I keep seeing on Brazilian tech companies; promoting their best senior engineers to lead/staff position and leading to burn out
Those folks are highly motivated people who you can throw any hard problem at them and they get it done. They talk to whoever need to clarify, keep owners informed and find out unknowns. Then they get it done, fast and with high quality
Leadership notices to us, and thinks: we need this person to train other people to do the same! So everyone can be a great engineer like them
And so they are promoted. And now, instead of doing the high quality work that got them promoted, they are now sad because they can’t own anything anymore
They are the to “provide support to their team and make sure they are growing”
However they didn’t become engineers for this. And now they get sad, unmotivated, even if they are making more money
Managers, I ask you: have you asked if your report is happy? If the work you assume they need to do actually motivates them?
Not everyone desires to transition to “leadership roles”!
Otherwise you might be burning out the folks who actually do high quality work, they stop caring and your product gets worse
@GergelyOrosz code review might be gone, but we still need some sort of review. maybe that means looking at interfaces, or how the data flows. also learned from @dexhorthy in his last talk!
or eventually it might just become a big ball of mud
@imdhiva hey @imdhiva, how useful are you finding mcp analytics so far? have you came up with any improvements based on insights? anything you'd like to see?
@tomasholtz@cognition I have a community of 400+ engineers in Brazil! Any chance you wanna do an event with us to tell more about the position? I’m sure there’s interest here
I hope this happens but at this point I’m unsure.
Capturing attention at scale is one of the most profitable businesses (as we can see with Meta ads thriving).
And if AI enables you to actually capture attention in a cheaper way, in a way it’s a win for social media companies. Especially with what happened with social media in post TikTok era!
But I do hope I’m wrong. AI for creating content feels so so bad and just exacerbates what’s wrong with current social media too
@PremiumGoblin I just subbed! Really digging it so far
I love how you just keep things real and focus on the practical side of AI and really using it to accelerate what you already do well!
Keep it up
