@robinhanson since a homogenous branching process* either converges to 0 or infinity, isn't it good that the birth rate is changing? What amount of oscillation in the rate would be acceptable to you?
@ESYudkowsky@GiveWell Community behaviour exists in an iterated prisoner's dilemma. He thinks he is a player in a single round game but he has actually just played a single turn for the ea community, and it was a bad move.

@bryan_caplan A bit surprised by the results considering there is a real shortage of computer science educators right now, with undergraduate admissions becoming quite competitive in order to match for capacity. Also lots of development rn is just uber for dogs and so on.
@arithmoquine@lifetimization feyerabend would call this scientific reasoning still. there's no one definite process, what's important is to cling and build on external verification the same way a growing sapling uses a stake for support
@eshear@QiaochuYuan Steelman the kolmogorov complexity side by just saying "lowest proven kolmogorov complexity" or just consider the complexities of the set of programs that have been proven to be O(n) or any other complexity class. Different foundations don't change the complexity too much either
