@lionel_trolling I think most of the misunderstanding is that Americans and English only go to the Mediterranean in summer, when it's always nice and blue.
@Chris_arnade American education really has an unique way of detaching you from real life.
I've met people from all over the world and it's just (some, highly educated) Americans that are so odd and detached.
@wfithian Academia rot in a nutshell, caring more about another notch on the CV or facetiously celebrating "the achievements of our colleague" instead of caring about the results
@LiteralSheridan@eigenrobot Has there been any war actually won by airpower alone? I guess vs Japan when they got nuked?
It's always somehow a huge surprise that country X is so resistant to strategic bombing
@eigenrobot I mean, if it's*the same llm* it doesn't matter what you run it on no? The algorithm is separate from the hardware, you can run it on piles of rocks or whatever and it's still the same output
@maiamindel A guy from the slums of Buenos Aires rising to the top and cheating in the final has a certain romantic charm about it, the president of the US intervening in a soccer tournament is just depressing
