@AANDeloucas@EliTadmor Appreciate the frustration, and this is not exactly about Akkadian, but I've got comparable things to say about that. I think intransitive, or non-agent-driven is a more basic category than passive: https://t.co/SFvYeLekc3

@bnuyaminim@PhDniX@PhDniX and @bnuyaminim you are being too etymologically sophisticated about this. Let's hope Jordan is just on a steady downward trend...
@dietweeterei Yes, the maturation point is tricky, isn't it? When is it really a copula? I keep using the term proto-copula, in which 'proto-' of course means 'I can see where this quest might lead you, but you are barely out the door yet'.
@azforeman The latter is mostly reserved for translations that are freer and poetic in the target language. A modern Norwegian Edda is a 'gjenfortelling', and a poetic Iliad in Norwegian would be a 'gjendikting'.
@azforeman In Norwegian, we have two words for similar concepts: 'gjenfortelling' and 'gjendiktning'. The former spans everything from recounting every detail you have witnessed the accused do to retelling a story in a more modern idiom (like hertaling?).
