The picture you carry inside your head of who you are, what you're capable of, what you deserve, and what's possible for you is the silent referee of every single move you make, and because you don't behave according to what you say, your goals, or what you want, your entire life becomes a mirror of that self image, your subconscious mind is simply executing the orders of that internal blueprint, which means the gap between where you are and where you want to be is just the mismatch between who you secretly believe you are and the version of yourself you keep trying to talk yourself into.
And this is exactly why people do not change unless they change their self image first, because things like goal setting, willpower, motivation, and discipline are all happening at the surface level of behavior while the internal picture stays exactly the same, you cannot out discipline your own identity for more than a few weeks before it pulls you back, which is why the only real way to change your life is to change the picture first, and once that internal baseline genuine shifts, the behavior follows by itself without a daily battle because your subconscious starts steering you toward a completely different home.
It is also why the exact same person keeps ending up in the exact same place no matter how much the outer circumstances change, because the brain operates like a guided missile that treats any mismatch between your reality and your self image as a problem to be corrected, and it always corrects toward the image, so you can land your dream job, lose 50 pounds, or win the lottery, but if your self image is still poor person or fat person or not good enough, your mind will unconsciously find ways to sabotage the opportunity, destroy the progress, and bring you right back home to the ceiling you set on yourself years ago, because the money or the success showed up but the internal picture stayed the same, and the picture always wins.
A man rents out his car (worth nearly 9 Lakh Rupees) to another person. The other party takes the vehicle, eventually absconds with it, and cuts contact, effectively committing theft.
Why is it then that @sampigehallips refuses to file an FIR? Why protect these criminals? (1/3)

Great breakdown of retention patterns! I love how you frame category selection as the foundation for frequency (e.g., daily tools vs. travel apps) and the โmagicโ of pain point alignment as the key to stickiness. e.g., ChatGPT tackling search fatigue in 2025. It seems the best products not only pick high-retention categories but also nail a timely, unmet need. For instance, could AI-driven personalization in a daily-use app (like a health tracker) boost D30 beyond the 15%+ benchmark you mentioned? Excited to hear your thoughts!
Small AI nerd moment:
Iโve been using ChatGPT and Claude side by side for a few learning projects (JTBD, AI parsing, etc).
One thing I found weird: Claude couldnโt remember context between chats in the same project. It suggested I paste a summary into each new chat. I tried that, but it didnโt feel smooth.
ChatGPTโs โProjectsโ feature made this easier. I could split my thoughts across chats, and it still remembered what I was working on.
Not judging, just curious - may be I'm missing a trick with Claude.

@evanlapointe@evanlapointe The article is really helpful. I would love to understand how to put oneself into these modes, or is it the time of the day a particular mode is activated by default? Any sneak peek into the free posts that helps me decide to purchase the subscription?
