Earlier this week, the committee held a public hearing on the Workplace Heat Protection Standards Act (HB 1580), introduced by @RepFiedler. Stakeholders from around the Commonwealth shared their views on the legislation and answered questions from committee members.

If you know me, you know I’m competitive as hell.
Right now, all of our neighboring states are out-competing us when it comes to the minimum wage — using their higher hourly wage to attract more workers and do more business.
So let’s raise our minimum wage to $15/hour — and keep competing.
I’m proud to announce that my bipartisan accessibility legislation, Senate Bill 867, has officially been signed into law as Act 16 of 2026.

We heard from advocates, providers, and business leaders from across the Commonwealth about the importance of viewing childcare and early childhood education as infrastructure that is fundamental to Pennsylvania's success.
Yesterday, the committee held an informational meeting to discuss the impact that the lack of access to affordable childcare and early childhood education has on Pennsylvania's economy, families, and workforce.
Great news! @SenTartaglione's legislation to update the Commonwealth's accessibility code passed the House yesterday 196-4! The bill already passed the Senate unanimously on 3/18/26 and now heads to @GovernorShapiro for his approval.
4 out of our 6 neighboring states have minimum wages that are more than double Pennsylvania's paltry $7.25/hour. How long will the Senate Republicans make us wait? PA's workers need a raise!
Good News❗️21 states + DC have $15 or Higher minimum wage or phasing in raises to $15 or ⬆️:
Alaska, Ariz, Calif, Colorado, Conn, Delaware, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Mass, Mich, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, RI, Virginia, Wash
#RaisetheWage
Yesterday, the committee held a voting meeting and favorably reported two bills to the full House: @RepTimBrennan's bill to increase burial benefits for workers who are killed on the job (HB 2049), and @SenTartaglione's bill to update the state's accessibility code (SB 867).
Roughly 4 million Pennsylvanians do not have paid family and medical benefits.
The Family Care Act is an investment in more jobs, happier employees, more stable businesses and hundreds of millions of dollars in economic growth to build a better Pennsylvania.

Inbox: State Sen. Maria Collett (D., Montgomery), who also sponsors a paid family leave bill, says "no more excuses" for her chamber to vote on a proposal following the House action. The Senate passed her bill out of committee in June 2024, but hasn't touched it this session.
The Family Care Act, introduced by @RepOMara, passed the House 107-92 yesterday! This bill would provide Pennsylvania workers with paid leave when they have a child, experience a serious health condition, or care for a sick family member.
News: A bill guaranteeing Pennsylvanians paid family and medical leave passed the state House with bipartisan support for the first time since Democrats flipped the chamber in 2022. It goes to the GOP-controlled state Senate, where a different bipartisan proposal awaits action.
Once again, the House has passed a bill to raise the Commonwealth's minimum wage. How much longer will Senate Republicans make Pennsylvanians wait for a raise while the cost of living continues to climb?
Yesterday, for the third time in four years, PA House Democrats passed a bill to #RaisetheWage. Once again, it now up to our colleagues in the Senate to finally take action and help workers.

Yesterday, the committee met and favorably reported two bills to the full House: @RepTarik's HB 64, which protects employees from being penalized for not attending political or religious meetings at work, and @RepMcNeill's Labor Broker Registration Act (HB 678).
On January 1, 2026, 19 states raised their minimum wage, increasing pay for more than eight million workers. 💰
Pennsylvania was not one of them.
Our minimum wage has remained at $7.25 an hour for more than 15 years. Pennsylvania is long past due for a wage that keeps up with today’s economy.
Victory in Pittsburgh! POGOH bikeshare workers vote to join the TWU. "Today’s victory is a big step forward for POGOH workers who want the benefits of a contract and being a part of the country’s largest bikeshare union. The work now begins on a first contract." @Twusamuelsen
