Using smartphone facial video clips with AI to passively and accurately get heart rate, across all skin pigmentation groups @nature
"This is the first demonstration that smartphones
can be used to monitor both HR and daily RHR passively during normal personal phone use in the real world."

Sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) prevention is a paradox ➡️ we focus on a few people at highest risk (e.g., low EF), but most SCA occurs in people without known disease.
Here, in @JACC_journals #Advances we present an AI approach to population-based SCA prediction using ECG+EHR.
A fantastic cross-country collaboration @broadinstitute@broad_ml4h@UW@MGHHeartHealth@MGBResearchNews@MACE_Lab_AI
Out today in @NEJM_AI: a new open source dataset and baseline model for detecting structural heart disease in ECGs! In collaboration with @PierreEliasMD@timpotsMD and the CRADLE lab https://t.co/jSVCJ6Jblc
VITAL-AF was a negative RCT...1L ECG screening in primary care did not ⬆️ #afib diagnosis.
But IF we used ECG-AI to guide screening, could it have gone differently?
Our new analysis @JACCJournals led by ⭐ fellow @nat_ved sheds light into the potential future of #afib screening
The new Gemini 2.5 image model🍌is by far the best out there with a whopping +180 ELO point lead in image editing & it really excels at character consistency.
Available for free in the @GeminiApp right now. Try uploading an image & playing around with it, it's pretty amazing!
🚨🍌Breaking News: Gemini-2.5-Flash-Image-Preview (“nano-banana”) by @GoogleDeepMind now ranks #1 in Image Edit Arena. In just two weeks:
🟡“nano-banana” has driven over 5 million community votes in the Arena
🟡Record-breaking 2.5M+ votes casted for this model alone
🟡It has achieved the largest Elo score lead in Arena history (a monster 171 point lead)
Huge congrats to @GoogleDeepMind!

I love the game of Boggle. This demo showcases our Gemini 2.0 Pro model’s coding abilities in AI Studio. It is mind boggling to think that it can write the full piece of code, including all the right data structures and search algorithms to find all valid words on a Boggle board from a relatively simple prompt asking it to do so. As a computer scientist, I'm also happy that it got its data structures right on the first trie.
Discombobulating!
Would you be interested in a free video course on statistics, featuring videos of no more than 20 minutes each, dedicated to fundamental concepts like mean, variance, correlation, tails?
A mix of math and philosophy.
Let’s see if there’s enough interest. Feel free to share!
#AHA24: How does sedentary behavior affect risk of heart disease? In #JACC, Drs. @AjufoEzim, @shaan_khurshid, & team from @MGHHeartHealth show that spending more time sitting🪑 is associated with ⬆️ risk of future #CVD https://t.co/eiHH8MwxLC
1/n We are excited to announce EchoPrime – the first echocardiography AI model capable of evaluating a full transthoracic echocardiogram study, identify the most relevant videos, and produce a comprehensive interpretation!
Great work lead by @milos_ai, EchoPrime is the largest and most complex #echofirst AI model yet, trained on 10x the data of existing models.
Big #AI partnership: @AbridgeHQ inks deal with @UpToDate. I'm sure digital scribes will be ubiquitous within 2-3 years; the next question is how to integrate creation of the MD note w/ meaningful clinical decision-support. This is a step in that direction https://t.co/dPhu7EKRqP
Exercise is beneficial for health. But many people have to cram their activity into 1-2 days/week. Do they still get the benefit?
To find out, we looked at associations of "weekend warrior” (WW) physical activity) and >600 diseases, now @CircAHA !

New research 📢
@Google teams find photoplethysmography, a non-invasive technique that measures blood volume changes using light, shows promise in detecting cardiovascular risks early, which can be particularly valuable in low-resource settings.🫀
